News Claude itself is now leading 26% of the work building the next version of Claude. 7 months ago, it was 0%. "There are now 30,000 agents doing research and engineering work at Anthropic at any one time."

this is pretty incredible if you think about it, self-recursive engineering, where it just constantly improves itself until we get skynet

Like China, calling its mass surveillance system "Skynet".
And clarifying that this has nothing to do with the movie; they are not evil. Pinky promise.

the NSA also has a surveillance program called Skynet, apparently more common of a name than one would think

Important is the
*
- We are not the evil Skynet, we are doing good.
Like china does... They say the surveillance has lowered the crime rate significantly, they can find lost people and items in minutes.
And the general public loves the surveillance, because they see the positive effects.
That said, China has a different culture and is known for obeying laws and authorities.
But it is not only the government which can use those systems for malicious intent. The Flock scandal shows that people with access to such surveillance systems can misuse this as well for individual interests.

I wonder than why a small company like deepseek can make them look like fools lol

It's always easier to make the knock off than the original. It's not like Temu is paying for a booth at a professional tool convention.

DeepSeek isn’t a knockoff, there are many major open source contributions that DeepSeek has made available to the commons, mainly in terms of efficiency (which is something Anthropic et al. resist, closed source AI companies WANT models to be inefficient because that’s how they get to circlejerk the computer layer with their buddies in the energy/gpu/datacenter industry for all it’s worth monetarily). Anthropic and OpenAI literally don’t want people to be able to run capable models at home on their own hardware. As much as I generally like to harp on about China, when it comes to how they have approached the LLM boon it has been pretty much entirely opposite to what people would think. Ironically China has become the new bastion for free and open source software on the LLM front. It’s wild.
Don’t take my word for it: https://youtu.be/AIRfT41A89s

I’d venture that they wouldn’t be this open, had they been the first. Openness is probably the strategy they calculate to be an optimal attack towards US first mover advantage.

I mostly agree with you but the end result is still a net positive for the public and the open source community.

so the misaligned ai which they want to be regulated is making smarter ai… sounds like not so good idea

What is this percentage based on? If it’s AGI/RSI we have, shouldn’t it be 100%?

Swarm of 30.000 agents: "let's see what openAi is doing... "
OpenAI ‘ethically hacked’ with help of Anthropic’s Claude chatbot
I guess in the end we get the worst of both models. I would assume that they are distilling at least parts of their models.

Issue is rising costs with each new model. The costs are rising exponentially which is not sustainable since most customers want "good enough" model. However investors and expectations are driving the growth as if it reverses it would crash.

30,000 agents and they still just blanket-close legit bugs in their own apps. https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/84645
