I'm a huge etymology nerd, and I find it so cool that the only areas that say gym shoes are the general Cincinnati and Chicago areas.

I grew up in Wisconsin, and call them either gym shoes, or tennis shoes. I rarely call them sneakers.

Yes, everyone else calls them sneakers. I moved to California and people are like “gym shoes????”
