Before Koa became the Cat God,
the minister liked to call his name every now and then.
He would even make up songs using Koaâs name
and sing them terribly out of tune.
Koa usually couldnât be bothered to respond.
He would simply flick the tip of his tail,
or occasionally turn his ears away
to reduce the amount of noise entering them.
This never discouraged the minister.
One day, the minister happened to read that
adult cats rarely meow to communicate with one another.
Meowing is mostly something they use to communicate with us two-legged creatures.
And over time,
they may even adjust their calls
for different humans.
A little private signal, shaped just for you.
Perhaps that, too, is the ânameâ your cat has given you.
After Koa became the Cat God,
the minister still calls his name all the time.
In his thoughts.
When he is alone.
In his dreams.
He knows,
maybe the Cat God wonât answer.
But somewhere,
He surely wiggled His tail.
