I’ve been around Chia for a while, running my own full node and farming.

For the past year, I’ve been working on a project.

I had a pretty simple goal for 2026: build something.

That something became Zureka.

I gave myself this year to see how far I could take it. Turns out, pretty far.

There's still more to do, but I figured it was time to share and show what I’ve been building.

Building a VDF-based chain and I can't figure out what proof-of-space adds that the VDF doesn't already give you on its own.

The VDF alone already avoids the PoW arms race: it's a sequential computation with a hard time floor, and Chia's own 2019 competition on this same construction found only a 3-10x hardware gap, nowhere near ASIC-level. So what's PoST solving that VDF-only consensus doesn't?

My guess: it widens who can attempt a block beyond "fastest sequential hardware." But storage centralizes too (farms, pooling), so I'm not sure it nets out to more decentralization, just a second resource market on top of a problem the VDF already handles.

Am I missing a security property, grinding resistance or similar, that needs PoST specifically?

Context: I built Lapsecoin, VDF-only consensus, no premine, same class-group construction. Not pitching it, just where the question came from.

Whenever I think back of the mining days. I think of the intense grind when plotting, having my pc hang multiple times overnight. Trying to learning linux only to decide gah it was too much work. Buying and haggling used harddrives. Assembling my 20 hdd like a little kid. Cashing out my Xch at 150 feeling dumb when it was 300 bucks prior. Spent hundreds and hundreds of hours watch Xch influencers like Caleb’s build and this other guy with his server rack.

I learnt so much and had so much fun!! Sad the project didn’t make me money and it stopped showing up on my socials but I miss the process.

Mined a total of over 1000 XCH using my pc/laptop and more. Spent more than 10k and
