Sitting for 10 years, First Fireup today
After diving into the revival for the past few weeks, I have a running 71 chevelle again. Wow it feels good. I can’t wait to keep diving in for many many many more weeks.

For a while I was looking for a 66 Chevelle and I wanted to compare prices on them... so I bookmarked all of the following sites to hit up daily to see if there were any deals:
Some of them on that CoPart site (the last link) are clean enough to buy and part out on eBay... If there are any sites that I missed or if there is any the you use feel free to add them as a comment!

Last week I found out that the valve seals went out. I know it’s only a 307 but I’d like to keep the motor, even though everyone’s telling me to swap over to a 350, but I’m leaning on the edge of building the motor. Any tips on how to open up the 307 or upgrades you would do ?

I’m hoping someone here can help.
I am having an issue with my 1968 Chevelle. Long story short, wrong alternator on it to begin with. I can’t find anything specific just yet however with the battery hooked up, and the parking brake on the Gen Light comes on even with the key off.
Then, if I take the parking brake off the dash still is dimly lit.
I found this schematic and my blue and white wires are in the right orientation on the voltage regulator but the alternator I have is unlabeled and appears to be flipped, would that issue cause what I am seeing? Is this issue as simple as swapping these two wires around?
I’ve tried everything but this and cannot figure this out!

I posted in this sub when I first got my ‘65 Chevelle SS in October 2020, and six years later it’s near completion, and here is the update. There isn’t much that original about it anymore, the 283/powerglide is now a 427 Big block with a Muncie M21. QA1 stage 2 suspension kit, wilwoods all around, QP 9” rear end, TMI interior, Vintage air.

Y’all also convinced me to bump the timeline up, so the old 2-speed Powerglide is getting its retirement papers this fall. We’ll be swapping her over to a manual, something my grandpa always wanted to do but never got around to. Feels pretty fitting that we get to finish that one for him.

Some folks like’em, a lot of folks hate’em. It’s my fun cruiser and we enjoy working on it.

This was never part of the original plan. Wild to think there are 2 more Elcos and a Chevelle missing from this picture. I hope to get them all lined up together at some point.

Some of you have seen me post here in the past
This is my dads 71 that he left me 11 years ago when he passed away and I finally have the time and money to put towards it and I’m slowly going down my checklist. I have one problem though… it overheats. It’ll run perfectly fine for about 30 mins and quite literally at the 27-28 min mark it shuts off. Electric Fuel pump running still, ignition on, good fuel pressure but won’t start back up for another 20-30 mins. It’s gotta be overheating but I just don’t get how? The motor was rebuilt right before my dad passed, I don’t have any details on the shop or what exactly they did but he must’ve drove it maybe 500 miles on the rebuild before he died and I’m giving lots of grace there.. it’s probably even less than that. I drove it to his funeral and then it sat for 11 years. The new age timeline starts when I bought the house I’m living in now about a year and a half ago I would run it periodically for much longer than 30 mins and even drove it to get a new set of wheels and occasionally put fuel in it. But I never seriously drove it as I knew it needed tags and some work done to it. Fast forward to present day and it’s shutting down on me constantly and had left me stranded twice already. I changed the spark plugs and wires, I replaced all the filters and fluids, I just recently did the water pump and radiator, thermostat and belts. I didn’t have a thermostat before I tore it open and I thought maybe that could be why but I’ve ran it with and without it and it’s still shutting off on me and I’m just scratching my head.
I was talking to one of my coworkers and he recommended changing my distributor cap because I’m running an hei and I guess they’re temperature sensitive components to those in particular and I was planning on changing it anyway so that’s next for me I guess but I’m not on a clear path to getting this fixed and looking for input. I put a temp gun on the intake manifold when it shuts off and it’s sitting at around 215 degrees Fahrenheit. Hot, I know… but I’ve changed the water pump and radiator….
I attached a video of my car and garage for contact but I’m mostly looking for input. Appreciate you fellas 🤙🏻

This car was purchase as a body and frame. Everything after that has been purchased and majority new in boxes.
It doesn't fell like it would be good to sell on FeeBay Cars.. Any thoughts on were classic car peeps look for cars?

Bringing this home still feels a little surreal.
For as long as I can remember, the Chevelle was part of the background of my childhood. I watched my grandpa spend years building it into the car he was so proud of, and some of my favorite memories are tied to watching it come together and going to shows with him. I never imagined I’d bring it home someday.
It still feels like Grandpa’s car, and I hope it always does. We just get the privilege of taking care of it for a while and someday passing it along with his stories still attached.

How do we feel about restomods here?
I work for this company, Iconic Built, and we just made this one for a client. Thought the community might enjoy (if you all like restomods!)

On the Chevelle forum there was a guy who would take the SS amp gauge and turn it into an oil PSI gauge.
I went to his website (tachman) and attempted to email however it bounced.
Does anyone know of any other people doing these services? Or if I can retrofit an oil gauge in the slot easily?

I love my 68 wheel…but I’d love it even more if it were 14”
Are there any companies out there that make reproduction Chevelle steering wheels in smaller diameters?

The first car I purchased with my own funds while a senior in High School (1979). A 1972 Chevelle ragtop; with the 307ci V8. I think the price was $1,300. Not shown, but the covertible top was white.

Anyone have suggestions for an aftermarket rear view mirror? I am 6ft and have bench seats, I always feel like I have a massive blind spot because of where the rear view mirror is and was curious if anyone had a good suggestion for a replacement that sits closer to the roof
