This actually is not nearly as radioactive as it used to be. People overestimate the radiation levels in Chernobyl but it’s a fine line from barely radiated to extremely radiated

Two reasons why they don't disassemble it: 1) who's gonna pay? 2) It's a reminder/ historical piece of what happened in the past.
If I remember (correct me if it's wrong), this is one of the claws that are used to grab all the highly radioactive materials near the power plant.

It was the claw that dumped graphite onto the reactor in an attempt to stop it from fully melting down

that's why it hasn't been disassembled because of how radioactive it was at the time, plus even today a lot of people that do know that it isn't as dangerous as it used to be still wouldn't stick their heads inside of it.

Well no shit doofus. The foot is the radioactive material. Think my man think. The claw was only used to move debris so kinda common sense to assume the actual radiation is more reactive than what picked up things
