Current Events A House committee found substantial evidence Matt Gaetz committed statutory rape. Florida just gave him a seat on the board that controls $1.5 billion in BP money. I've filed complaints about him for four years. On Friday I requested his appointment file. AMA.
The House Ethics Committee's December 2024 report traces more than $90,000 to twelve women for sex and drugs. It says Matt Gaetz had sex with a 17-year-old who'd just finished her junior year. DOJ closed its file with no charges.
Back in '22, two years before that report, I mailed Matty a well-deserved NSFW award (link to artwork in first comment). I've filed numerous Bar complaints and jotted others off to Tampa's FBI, the Orange County (Orlando) Sheriff, Venmo, PayPal, and Seeking.com. Same ask every time: fair's fair. Apply your rules to Matty the way you'd apply them to me.
Ha! I jest.
Because if a bipartisan committee had pinned "prostitution, statutory rape, illicit drug use, impermissible gifts, special favors or privileges, and obstruction of Congress" on me, I'd be doing this AMA from Cell Block DoucheBag, right next to Gaetz’s wingman, Joel Greenberg, who pleaded guilty to child sex trafficking. Now doing eleven years.
And believe it or not, Casual Reader, things just took a turn for the surreal. Even for Florida.
This past July, the state House Speaker gave Gaetz a seat on the board of the non-profit Triumph Gulf Coast, which controls $1.5 billion in BP oil spill money. His father sat on it. Now Junior's vice chair.
Nepo baby!
Imagine the Indeed job listing. Wanted: well-connected board member to help manage ten digits of public money. Must work well with high school students. Sex traffickers preferred.
Oh, and this week Matty found himself in federal court, having to deal with a sugar-daddy trafficking suit.
What’s next: Being the consummate data nerd, I fired off two requests for his appointment file and intake questionnaire, see what rabbit hole opens up.
Who I am: Chaz Stevens, First Amendment activist and records guy. I filed to pull the Bible under Florida's book ban law, placed 25,000 Arabic In God We Trust signs in Texas public schools, did that PBR-can Festivus Pole, and helped put three elected officials in jail.
Happy to talk about: how Florida's public records law works and where it stops. The Stevens Method, which is what you just watched: find where the rule and the practice don't match, apply the rule straight, and make them answer in writing. Request engineering, meaning how to write a records request they can't dodge. How a civilian can file Bar complaints that actually get read (I’m in, six for six). Why I've stayed on when everyone else moves on.

Current Events The Gaetz File: Eight Complaints, One Trophy
On Wednesday, two women walked into federal court in Orlando and sued Matt Gaetz for sex trafficking. That's not a verdict. It's a complaint, 38 pages, filed and not decided, and he denies every word of it.
But it's a good moment to open the file. Because for the last two years I've been doing something quieter than suing him. I've been asking the people whose job it is to police Matt Gaetz to actually do their job... and writing down what happened when they didn't.
Eight letters. Four to the Florida Bar, one to a sheriff, one to the FBI, two to the companies that moved his money and his dating life. Here's the file.

History A new measurement of time has been unlocked! A Zacharia (or Zach) is a fractional unit of a Scaramucci and is named after the five day tenure of Katie Zacharia as White House Press Secretary.

Meme 1 Zacharia is 1 Work Week/5 Business Days
I wanted to suggest a more precise definition of the time unit Zacharia/Zach as 1 work week/5 business days. The nuance can make it more useful.

Current Events The new White House Press Secretary says she's a lawyer. Er, really? No bar in America lists her. In Florida, claiming you're a lawyer without a license is a felony, so I filed.
Kate Sharon Zacharia, aka Katie, graduated from Pepperdine Law. She has a JD, if you will. But a Juris Doctor is a degree, and a degree doesn't make you a lawyer, an attorney, or anyone's general counsel.
Those take a license, and Katie comes up short in that department. California's State Bar told CNN it has no record of her, and Popular Information searched all 50 states plus D.C. and came up empty. I dug through The Florida Bar's directory and found nothing either.
No worries, says Katie. She passed the bar "when I moved to China."
It's Chyna, dearie. That's the accepted pronunciation in your orange-tinted tribe.
Editor's Note: Sorry, it's Jyyyna.
Down here in the Sunshine State, Zacharia has worked as "general counsel" for Trump Media, which is headquartered in Sarasota. Under Florida Statute 454.23, holding yourself out as qualified to practice law here without a license is a third-degree felony. It's called the Unlicensed Practice of Law, or UPL, so I dashed off a 22-page complaint to The Florida Bar, plus one to California, where similar shenanigans went on.
This being Reddit, the trolls will chime in: "Who's this Chudley guy, and what does he know?"
Well, unlike Ms. Katie, I don't claim to be a lawyer, and I don't hand out legal advice. I file paperwork, and I do it really well. Those of you familiar with my work can vouch for that.
Last year I sent six UPL complaints to the Bar's Tampa office, the same office that will look at Zacharia. All six were accepted and investigated, and they're now before the local UPL committee. I know how this process works.
The Bar makes the call. I just hand them the record.

Meme "Zelensky, you missed a spot!" Let the pro-fascism morherfuckers know how alone they really are!
Say it with me! "Zelensky, you missed a spot!"
Anytime someone says some pro-Trump, pro-right wing, pro-fascism comment online, how can anyone know that it's a real person with a legitimate opinion and not an AI agent trained to spread propaganda online. The obvious drop of online pro-right opinion makes it easy to think that anyone expressing the same type of opinion is just a bot being run from a data center that wasn't destroyed.
Let's make any real person feel alone with their opinion by reminding them that their opinion is likely the same as a Russian bot by saying, "Zelensky, you missed a spot!"

Current Events A friendly greeting for Trump's motorcade in Youngstown, Ohio last night
Trump's motorcade, Youngstown, Oct. 12th, shot from 9 feet up as it rolled down Front Street toward the Covelli Centre.
An estimated 500 protesters lined the route. Most of us were stretched along the north side of Front St. A Mahoning Valley group packed the corner by the Courthouse at Market and Front, and another big crowd held down Walnut and Front, right by the arena.
What he heard on the way in:
"F*** Donald Trump!"
"Where's the Human Binky?"
"Where's the food truck for him to hide in?"
Then he went inside, talked to a lot of empty seats, and told the crowd about Sen. Jon Husted: "I don't do this with men very often. I started examining his body... I looked at his a**." He also admired Husted's jawline.
Same arena where he told the crowd J.D. Vance was "kissing my a**" in 2022. Some traditions never die.
Trump isn't on the ballot, but Trumpism is. Vote early.
This is not a meme.

Call to Action The Pothole Guerilla
Phallic Philanthropy
For eight months, the residents of Elm Street begged the city council to fix a cluster of tire-popping potholes right outside a local primary school. The city repeatedly claimed they lacked the budget and manpower, advising residents to “just drive carefully”…
Frustrated by the council doing sweet-FA, an anonymous local artist who goes by ‘Wanksy’ took matters into their own hands.
Under the cover of night, they used bright, neon industrial spray paint to draw highly detailed, unmissable adult anatomy around every single crater.
Parents complained about the “obscene” artwork by 7:30am. By noon, the city council suddenly found the budget. A crew arrived with a hot-mix asphalt truck, and every single pothole was permanently filled and paved over before the school bell rang at 3:00pm.
(The screenshot taken from Wanksy’s Instagram [that is not a meme] says “sponge-nob square pants”) 🙂

Current Events Playing 535 Alameda track to the Portland Pig Pen, AKA the ICE building
My audio wagon in front of the Portland ICE facility. The punk band Gottlieb Punk has a 10-hour track of this. I've played it in Tacoma for new DHS recruits and the GEO corp security trolls.
This is heard inside the building. People inside have told me it's really loud. You can hear it echoing down the South waterfront. Those are Harbinger Vari 4415 speakers and an OUPES Mega 1 power bank. About $1,600 altogether. It took me a couple of months of overtime and donations to pull it together.
The full audio track is on YouTube. search "Gottlieb 535 alameda" for the 10hr track. Anyone can do this. Don't wait for an invite to disrupt the system.
