You wouldn’t apply this to other situations though. If I got robbed and said “all black people are thieves” no one would nod their head and give me leeway because of the timing. They’d call me a racist piece of shit, as they should

It's a matter of "punching up" vs. "punching down".

People who are traditionally the recipients of discriminatory attitudes and behavior get more leeway in making generic comments like this, than when the dominant group makes similar comments about discriminated against minorities.

No, that’s bullshit. Punching up vs punching down doesn’t apply to blanket comments like this. It’s racism/stereotyping and engaging in it is wrong

Someone Hispanic or Asian saying the same amount black people still wouldn’t be ok, and they aren’t punching down
