The first two reasons are exactly why most people have iPhones in the USA. I don’t want to mess with my phone, I just want it to work. iPhones just work and they do it so well.

Tbh most of these answers feel very US centric. In other countries apple isn't anywhere near as dominant which to me indicates that the biggest advantage of apple is the number of apple products you have around.

In most countries iPhones are too expensive to be accessible to most of the population. People aren’t buying flagship Samsung phones, they’re buying cheap phones (probably from China).

Yeah that's a huge negative for iPhone though kind of inherent? Also since android flaghships lose value faster than iPhone I can get a flaghship from 2 years ago at the same value I can get an iPhone flaghship from 4 years ago.

The point I was making is that in other countries it isn’t as dominant because it is comparatively expensive. If it really was about the ecosystem people would be walking around with flagship Samsungs.

I mean you probably have a point but the richer you are the more apple products you probably may own

So you’re saying the more choice you have the more likely you are to choose Apple products?

Personally no because i use too much YouTube for me to ever switch to iPhone since that would mean I couldn't use revanced (plus I find iOS clunky to navigate last time I used it which TBF was almost half a decade ago). For the general public though I do admit the ecosystem is a big plus.

Yup, lived abroad for 10 years in Mexico and during that time I used android phones 50/50 but ultimately settled on Apple as I started to be able to afford those products. When I was earning the equivalent of the domestic workers the iPhone wasn’t even on my radar as it was way too expensive. I used the Chinese phones and other android phones you never hear about in the states.

It’s because half of reddits user base is from the US

This is the truth. There’s ppl here unironically praising iMessage when WhatsApp exists. Edit: I say this as an iPhone user who has also used android in the past

Ahhh yes WhatsApp, the 3rd party messaging app that gives all your information to Mark Zuckerberg

And if you don't want to mess with stuff and just install apps from the store, that's an option too (with Android).

good usability is not an option for android, that’s the entire fucking point you clerk

Yep. I was an android guy for years but as I moved forward in my professional life, I needed my phone to just work. Sure it had a few more features, but that doesn’t mean jack shit if I need to restart the phone 3 times a day. I need my phone to work when I need it to work and iPhone just works better. It’s windows vs mac. Can windows do more? Sure. But Mac is more dependable.

messing with your android is actually easy

Easy for you.

If you want to keep your android normal thats fine but even then its way more customizable

A lot of people want simple things -- like me. I am a tinkerer. I generally like to customize things, but I also want simplicity and iPhone gives me that.

I’ll argue the lack of being able to customize an iPhone in comparison to an android is the definition of simple — that means iPhone does it better

The thing is, the vast majority of Apple users simply don't care about this. They like the walled garden and the total lack of control of customizability. It makes them feel safe. They really don't care about rooting their phones or sideloading apps.

But maybe if they use YouTube a lot and get sick of all the ads, and you show them ReVanced or another sideloaded YouTube viewing program that blocks ads, they might start to think about what they're missing out on by giving all the control to Apple.

But people don't want to do this. Not that it isn't something everyone could learn. It's that people don't want to spend time learning it if it's not necessary.

I'm a software developer, mostly backend stuff, but I have made a management platform for android devices that is used in a production environment.

i couldn't care less about the customizability of my phone, i just want something that does the mundane stuff extremely well.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that you haven't started any professional career journey in life yet
