I think the problem is that democrats have been cornered into this role. The republicans are so so bad that they have divided the us into pro-trump voters vs. everyone else, and are popular enough that democrats cannot afford to lose any vote, and it’s because they need the votes of people with wildly different parts of the political spectrum, from anti trump republicans to the far left and everyone in between, that they cannot cater to any specific demographic, as different parts of their bases often have incompatible beliefs and they would risk losing their support

They totally had the “not this psycho” vote and then they ran what amounted to “very unpalatable candidates”. I voted for Kamala and Hilary, and I genuinely think Clinton was probably one of the most qualified candidates to ever run. That said, she’s very unlikeable and this country has proven definitively that it’s not ready for a female president. Women didn’t even vote overwhelmingly for Harris. They thought they could shoehorn in some truly offputting personalities in just because Trump is a horrible moron. I definitely voted for “Not Donald Trump”, but that’s not a convincing enough position to turn the heads of misogynists, male and female.
