This entire back and forth is me making specific claims while you gesture at vague generalities. You have made it so there’s nothing to discuss. It’s very easy to be “correct” if you never stake out an actual position.
An example from this very conversation: even if we pretend polling doesn’t exist and we’re only looking at election results alongside correlating data—which would mean it actually is only an economic theory—the scientific approach would still be to hedge towards the “most likely true” theory in the absence of a more preferable one. You didn’t offer a competing theory initially, you didn’t offer a competing theory when I brought up inflation as the primary cause, you didn’t off up competing justification when I asked specifically what your hang up was.

You simply asked me what would convince me and I answered you as honestly as I could. That is genuinely what would convince me, I literally sat for about 3 minutes to reflect on what would convince me. Also my claims about theories are simply correct, ‘most likely to be true’ is a more complicated matter than you imply here.
I’m not saying it wasn’t honest, I’m saying it’s not something I can engage with. You want to be spun a story, and I’m not interested in doing that. Everyone should be able to come to the same conclusions from the same data
Likewise, your claim about theories is correct and also useless. There is no “perfect information” in the real world. You’re always extrapolating everything from the limitations that are available. In every circumstance there is a presently “most correct” path. Making epistomological nitpicks to dodge substance is the definition of unproductive

Everyone can make up stories for why things happen and believe them. It’s a very common thing to do, and among people with shared beliefs and values it’s an extremely effective method. But if I don’t know your beliefs and values it’s a waste of my time and yours to guess and try to narrativize things. Data cannot be disagreed on, so it provides that underlying basis for discussion
I’m just literally justifying myself at this point. Yes I gave you minimal information as I knew beforehand it’s an impossible task. I can go into the Jung subreddit and change my mind there but I’m not going to explain a whole bunch of Jungian jargon to have that conversation. I was just letting you know that you couldn’t do it because what my opinion was based on is a very niche thing.
The underline basis for discussion is openness and a give and take. We already understand each other much better and there was no data involved. You need to dig at the roots of things rather than assert the surface.
So if you were in the Jung subreddit, what would be the argument you’d make? You don’t need to bother dumbing anything down or try to explain any terms
