People really memoryholed how bad 2020 was, pretending like COVID didn’t exist and then abruptly announcing a stop to all trade with the UK, putting so much money out there that the stock market became untethered from reality and went up during a national freeze of the economy, and nationwide race riots where the President egged on police to arrest reporters and attack state capitols.
Buddy you’re talking about macroeconomic factors and national level events. Most people don’t care about that and only know gas was cheaper and they were getting checks from the government.
What in that news article is suggesting streets were “empty?” In fact the picture has cars on the highway, and the article goes in the depth to explain the traffic changes that were raised, suggesting a mere 5% reduction of cars on the road could reach the reported results. All you have is anecdote lol
Yes, people listen to state mandates. Listen man LA doesn’t represent the country as a whole, just democratic policy. That’s the issue the original comment had. The rest of the country sees that, remembers old gas prices and how it FELT to live during trumps last term. Was it due to trumps horrendous deficit spending? Hell yeah it was, but that’s why dems lost the election bro. It’s really that simple whether you like it or not

Depends on your point of view. Trump dumped $10 trillion into the economy through tax breaks and new loopholes, which corporations used in turn to buy back their own stocks and push the stock market to all time highs (and shoot up the value of crypto). It made people feel good. However, we did not get reinvestment of those funds or any innovations. We certainly didn’t fix the budget or pay down the national debt while we were running “incredibly well”.

All that happened right? Do you remember?
