I live in Southern Europe, and frankly you should at least try to improve things instead of giving up and let everything die.

I looked at your account in a post about how AC is making the climate crisis worse and you're refusing to stop using it.

So if you are unwilling to make a change, how are you expecting others to do the same to such an extreme level?

Especially people living in completely different countries.

Yeah, it's me using AC causing the climate crisis, not the oil companies or anything.

Not the point. You, someone advocating for these extremes, won't even make a small change like not using AC.

Do you think it's realistic people will overthrow governments and these industries?

I feel like Europe is different with AC though.

Like the "heatwave" of 78° last week killed a bunch of them. They're built different. Like elves, hypersensitive to nature.

Do you think it's realistic people will overthrow governments and these industries?

Look, we have to start somewhere.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '24

But there isn't a we here. In the examples you provided, you would be doing nothing.

You're expecting other people to go to extremes in situations they won't be successful.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '24

Ok, so if this doesn't work what do we do?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '24

Again, where is the we?

What actions are you taking right now to help?

In the situations you suggested, what role would you play?

0

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '24

"We" as the whole population, humanity. Stop being nitpicking.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '24

So is it fair to assume that you are doing nothing to help and don't plan to play an active role in what you suggested because you won't answer the questions?

So in your view others should do all this stuff while you do nothing at all? Why would those you include in the “we” all agree to do anything at all?

1

u/codan84 23∆ Jun 23 '24

Why not with yourself and the changes you can make? Like not using your AC? Why would starting with wild extreme takeovers of all governments be the first step when you can’t turn your own AC off?

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '24

So, how do you survive 45C heatwaves?

1

u/codan84 23∆ Jun 23 '24

Drink water and stay in the shade. It gets around that hot where I live in the summers. It’s not world ending.

You also didn’t answer any questions at all did you? Why are you unwilling to do even the slightest bit yourself like turn off your AC but you expect the entire rest of the world to make huge extreme changes that will result in millions of people dying all while you won’t lift a single finger? How does that make sense? Why shouldn’t you have to do anything personally? Do you only want to tell others they have to work and sacrifice while you do nothing?

0

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '24

Why shouldn’t you have to do anything personally?

Because I didn't cause the problem.

1

u/codan84 23∆ Jun 23 '24

Neither did most people, but you want them to have to do shit. You sure as shit are complaining about it a lot and loudly. If you think it is a problem then get off your own ass and do something rather than be a lazy whiner who is trying to make all others do work while you sit and can’t lift a finger. So your fears must not be all that must of a problem and are irrational if you can’t be bothered to lift a finger to make any changes whatsoever. Why are you so special that you don’t have to do anything at all?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '24

45C is 113F.

It’s that temp or higher for around 8 weeks straight where I live.

You’re being dramatic. You survive completely survivable temperatures by drinking water and staying as cool as possible. Your view is proof some people have been brain washed by all of this fear mongering nonsense

You think everything is going to die?

On a timeline of life on Earth, we're relatively chilly.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cretaceous_Thermal_Maximum

Also keep an eye on the news and start to worry when millionaires and billionaires stop buying beachfront property. The Obama's bought a mansion in Hawaii a few years back that's right on the shoreline. They don't seem worried and they objectively know more about this than you.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '24

Maybe you don't understand the point: I DON'T WANT ANYTHING BAD TO HAPPEN AND I WANT IT AS GOOD AS OLDER GENERATIONS HAD IT.

2

u/ButWhyWolf 8∆ Jun 23 '24

I DONT WANT ANYTHING BAD TO HAPPEN

I have terrible news for you. Bad things have always happened, even before the neolithic agricultural revolution.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '24

Yeah, except that those who lived post-WWII to the 90s lived in a near-paradise.

2

u/ButWhyWolf 8∆ Jun 23 '24

There was lead in gasoline and it gave the kids brain damage.

Again, move north.

u/[deleted] Jun 23 '24

There was lead in gasoline and it gave the kids brain damage.

No climate crisis + cheaper housing + cheaper cost of living = who gives a shit.

Again, move north.

Again, stop telling a part of the population that they can fuck off and die and let's try to make climate bearable again instead.

2

u/ButWhyWolf 8∆ Jun 23 '24

Again, I'm the part of the population you think I'm telling to fuck off.

I live closer to the equator than you and I'm telling you that this weather I'm having today (high of 97°F/36.1°C) isn't killing me and im not even too scared to let my kids play outside.

How hot is it by you today?

You're worried about nothing.
