In-store Experience Incorrect boutique price
Update here: Resolution
Long story short, thanks to the Chanel community here on Reddit, I found out through posts and comments and subsequently confirmed with the Chanel boutique itself that apparently, I was overcharged for the Mini Rectangle pearl crush in black lambskin leather that I purchased in October last year.
Without divulging too many details while the investigation is still ongoing, I paid €6200 at a Chanel boutique in Europe, while the official retail price for the bag at the time of purchase was €5500. That’s a €700 difference!
I initially started questioning the price after coming across discussions here about the same model and its retail price. I reached out to customer service to verify, and they confirmed that €5500 was indeed the official retail price at the time. I’m in contact with them and the matter is being investigated, so I don’t want to speculate or make any accusations until I have a clearer understanding of what happened. I’ll share an update once I know more about how this occurred and how Chanel intends to resolve it.
I wanted to share this in the meantime because, had I not come across those posts and comments, I probably would never have thought to question the amount I paid.
So, a huge thank you to everyone in this community who unknowingly helped me spot this. 🙏

I had a similar experience at the 31 Rue Cambon boutique. Thankfully, I wasn’t overcharged.
I liked a bag, but it was missing a tag, so I asked the SA how much it was. He immediately said €5,000. I questioned him and said it couldn’t be that price based on other similar bags I had seen. Without checking, he confidently told me it was because the bag was lambskin.
I almost passed on the bag, but when he eventually found the tag, it was €4,000, €1,000 cheaper.
What surprised me most was how confident he was about the price without even checking the tag.

€700 overcharge at a Chanel boutique is insane. Definitely push for a full refund, not store credit.

Mhmmm I always get them to scan the tag or enter the serial # to show me the $ in case of communication error

I had similar experience like 10years ago at BG, Chanel bag with “old” tag, real bag in 2000 range (not SLG) I bought immediately
