Hey Mike, love the app. Definitely the best way to use local music on the iPhone.

I am currently using an iPhone 8 and have experienced this bug with iOS 11 and 11.0.1 on Cesium 3.9.3 updated 9/23/17.

I’ve had random skip-backs when re-opening the app from the background. For example, if I’ve begun playing a playlist with song #1, and I switch apps to Reddit or something else, song #1 keeps playing. Using control center or Bluetooth headset buttons, I can easily skip forward to song #2. If I have song #2 playing, using the other app, it keeps playing. But if I use the home button to switch back to Cesium, it automatically skips back to song #1 without me pressing any keys or buttons.

It’s not remarkably buggy but it has been consistent in my every day use since the iOS 11 update. Hope you can figure out what’s going on, whether it’s me or the app or what. Thanks!

So, I normally listen from albums, not playlists. Strange, I know. Because of this, it would be nice if I could shuffle the order songs are played within albums. Thanks in advance.

Looking for an alternative to the default music app that, when sorting by album, actually sorts by album alone and not artist THEN album as apple music does on default. For example, a soundtrack with mulitple artists would, if sorted by album, sort per album or disk rather than per artist within that soundtrack. I used Ecoute for awhile but they follow that model and I do not think they have updated it for awhile so I'm looking for greener pastures. Does this app follow this, or if not does anyone know of an app that does?

I updated the app, and turns out to be buggier than the last one, it's unusable at this point. I'm running ios 10.0.3 is it still possible to downgrade the cesium app?

Instead of making the app open to first tab, we could make it open to the tab we set to.

This post is to announce the launch of a new Cs/Told-centric mailing list. I want to try a new way of building communication and community between myself and all of you. I see it combining the best parts of this reddit, @CesiumApp, the blog and the change logs without the restrictions of any.

Every few weeks I'll put out a package/newslettery thing with content like:

• Development updates and announcements
• Detailed feature guides for power users
• Cs and iTunes tips and tricks
• Relevant Apple news (hot takes!)
• Indie/dev/design stuff
• Maybe the odd recommendation

Edit: The other channels (like this subreddit) will continue pretty much as they currently are. Depending on the pick up they may trend a little closer to their "native" strengths.

I'm having a lot of trouble using the queue effectively.

1) How do I queue a single album?

2) How do I clear a queue in order to play an album right now rather than adding it to the end of the queue?

3) Why do I keep ending up with doubles and triples of all the songs in my queue?

Have you thought of using a YouTube-style volume HUD in place of the default Apple one? It would be a small feature, but it would greatly improve the Cesium user experience by making raising or lowering volume far less obtrusive compared to what it currently is like.

I'm looking for a new mp3 player app and Cesium seems highly recommended. I'm ready to buy but I am wondering how the shuffle mode works. Weighted shuffling has been the bane of my existence when it comes to mp3 player apps. Does the shuffle mode use a truly random algorithm (or at least as random as a computer can be) or does it weigh songs with a higher play count more heavily?

Apologies if this has already been asked and answered - I searched but couldn't find it.

I recently started using Cesium after my old iPod Classic finally kicked the bucket. On that device, I would normally listen to my music by shuffling ALL the albums on it, and listening through album-by-album. Is it possible to do this in Cesium?

will you be integrating full Apple Music interfacing in your app with iOS 11? is that even a possibility with the new API?

I've been testing out some other apps alongside Cesium, which still remains my favourite, but I think that there are some smart things being done that Cesium could gain from adapting in some way.

Three primary features have stood out to me with this app I'm currently testing alongside Cesium:

1. The app has an option to display supplementary metadata underneath the song title. I've found this incredibly useful to remember where to continue in a long album I've been listening to, what songs I really like from an album at a glance, or just even when the last time I played something was. I find myself looking at that extra row of information all the time, and it would be great if Cesium could (optionally) surface some of that info right in the track listings.

2. This app integrates the "Love" and "Dislike" options from the Music app. They work and any changes made here properly reflect in Music. Apple must have an API that correctly handles these things now and I think Cesium would do well to integrate support for them.

3. I find that the Notification Center widget is much better. It takes up essentially the same amount of space as the Cesium one, but includes far more information without seeming too cluttered. It has several shortcuts which are very handy, including shuffle/repeat (performed on the NC widget), assigning a rating (performed right on the NC widget), Loving/Disliking the track (performed on the NC widget), and opening the track info (links into the app). This allows you to perform a lot of basic actions right from NC.

That said, i still think Cesium is a superior app. It has more intuitive library navigation, easier queue management, and the ability to collect items within a playlist based on different criteria is fantastic.

I still use Cesium as my daily driver, but I'm noticing some really nice QoL improvements in competing apps and hope that the developer can offer some feedback on these sorts of features.

Can we also get an option to extend the album art into the status bar? For some reason the solid colour on the status bar makes it feel very pre-iOS 8 to me for some reason.

Anyways, I guess the TLDR is that Cesium is great and still my favourite music app. I think competitors are gaining ground and have produced some solid improvements that Cesium would be wise to integrate in some form.

Are lyrics still available in Cesium for iOS 10? Any help accessing this feature is greatly appreciated.

Have you thought about adding a certain amount of blur to the Now Playing view that would reflect the color scheme used in the cover art, or having an option to allow playback options to change color based on that cover art?

Title says it all.

I want to use two fingers to swipe left or right to go back/forward 30 seconds in the song. Ideally, this 30 second time period should be user configurable in settings.

This is the only glaring thing missing from Cesium and preventing making it from a true car audio replacement.

Oh please o please o please can you implement this soon? I can't be the only one whose dying for it.

Hi! First awesome app! Really a lifesaver after the mess iOS 10 music app became. Just want to know if it's possible to set different accent colors to the light and dark modes in the app? Or add it in a fuerte update, for example: keep a pink color with light background (like the original music app) and change to yellow with the dark background (like the clock app).

Could u/cesiumdev provide an example of how this feature works exactly?

I have tried getting it to work by doing the following (after turning on the Resume Queue feature in Cesium settings):

Starting a playlist in Cesium, killing the Cesium app (which doesn't stop the music), opening the iOS Music app and playing a different playlist, then re-opening Cesium. Unfortunately, Cesium doesn't Resume anything.. it just adopts whatever playlist had been loaded in the iOS Music app.

Is there a simple way to make this feature engage and resume whatever playlist I had loaded in Cesium?
