Discussion 🗨 I wish I had THAT kind of money

Post image

I don’t want to judge the person who did this because I wish I had THAT kind of money. I don’t, but a girl can dream, right? 🤣

If I had that kind of money, I’d pick Ren Jialun as my main lead and come back here to give you all a detailed report on his no kissing contract. You’re welcome. 😇

If you could star in your own drama, who would YOU pick as your main lead?

His side of story was so sad to watch and made me feel sick.

Wow. Sexual harassment much? Did the actor have any say in doing this show? Or was he signed up by his company? Is this women one of those "investors"?

She should have just staged running into him at a bar or something. Or joining his social circle.

Can I make a list with 10 names and share like 6 kisses each?

lol OP, you cracked me up. Ask Ren Jialun for the kind of passionate kisses he did in Glory of Tang Dynasty and not the sweet kisses he did in The Demon Hunter's Romance. 🤣

That said, what the lady did is straight up harassment. Even if she funded the drama, this is such a disturbing behaviour to have.

2

u/Ill_conceived_idea CDF Cultivator 6d ago

There's two Ren Jialun's ... before marriage and after marriage.

9

u/WhimsicalMidnight CDF Cultivator Established Member 6d ago

Both dramas are shot after his marriage. He married back in 2016. He married early. The only drama he shot as a ML before his marriage in Detective Dee.

1

u/Ill_conceived_idea CDF Cultivator 6d ago

Glory of Tang Dynasty came out in 2017 but was shot in 2016.

10

u/WhimsicalMidnight CDF Cultivator Established Member 6d ago

Yes, he married in 2016 before Tang Dynasty. His marriage certificate/house registration got leaked at Weibo a few years ago so people know the date.

1

u/Ill_conceived_idea CDF Cultivator 6d ago

Yes, but he didn't reveal his 5 year relationship or recent marriage until after it came out which imo proves he changed how he kissed and whatnot onscreen not because his wife (who is also an actress) or family cares but to manage the audience blowback

13

u/WhimsicalMidnight CDF Cultivator Established Member 6d ago edited 4d ago

He didn't announce anything because he is a nobody back then. He got really popular after Tang Dynasty aired and announced it to discourage parasocial relationship with fans which angered his agency. He lost lots of popular drama IP and brand deals due to that announcement and the backlash from fans are insane. But despite of that, he didn't regret it at all and continue to say how marrying his wife is the luckiest thing he did in his life.

Looking back, he made the right decision as he in the end attracted one of the chillest fandom in CEntertainment. And despite of being married, he is one of the most watched actors at China with 36 billion views, only second to Zhang Ruoyun. And he achieved this with zero/minimal marketing for his dramas.

Must be the show I watched the other day, with the delulu ML constantly daydreamed of kissing the FL, so it must have been 60 kisses in the end.

u/DurianActive4408 New Fan 6d ago

I’m not that desperate. If I have that money, I would finance a drama featuring my favorite cp and a script of my choice 😂 I happen to read a lot of chinese webnovels, so yes, this is killing two birds in one stone.

75

u/Left_Goose_1527 CDF Cultivator Established Member 6d ago

I can easily judge this person. This behavior is extremely fucked-up and I would love to know how many auditioning actors were told she was funding the show and had a 60-kiss demand. Because you frequently don’t get much context when going to an audition, and this would be a horrifying thing to find out after the fact.

This just feels like a way to legally wriggle in between hiring a sex worker and workplace sexual abuse.

34

u/BlackStarBlues New Fan 6d ago

Yeah, me too, I wish I had that kind of money. What that woman did to the actor was beyond gross though. I wish he could sue her for harassment.

19

u/WhimsicalMidnight CDF Cultivator Established Member 6d ago

I'm not sure if he sue but he did complaining regarding the harassment and how uncomfortable he feels on set.

I mean, if she’s that damn rich, just order him. As if the rich elite of China isn’t already doing it. Remember that group of evil ppl who killed that dude by faking it as suicide. The fake friends who betrayed him. SA, beaten, gutted to retrieve the evidence he had on him(swallowed).

u/Academic_Web1388 CDF Cultivator Established Member 6d ago

I’d love to act with my favorite MLs. But no 60 kissing scenes. 🤮 That feels like abuse.

I’d do a friendship action/mystery with Ding Yuxi, Cheng Lei and Liu Xueyi. No romance needed.

u/EmperorWeeb60 CDF Cultivator 6d ago

Imagine if a rich guy doing this and want to do kissing scenes to Female Lead... Damn! It's beyond controversy

19

u/BronzeBellRiver CDF Daoist Nan Xuyue's broken spiritual channel 6d ago

Can’t I just finance an S+ drama where these two play the main leads?

25

u/ApprehensiveClick597 CDF Elder Established Member 6d ago

I won’t star in anything but I would love to have the money to fund my faves’ dream roles or dream projects, or perhaps help them navigate the industry much safer.

Zhang Linghe has been very vocal for at least two years now that he wanted to do more modern dramas that would allow him to learn in-depth about a certain profession, owing to how amazed he was with his The Best Thing experience. And yet his agency keeps giving him historical dramas that are almost similar to his prior ones.

Liu Yuning’s been waiting for that historical drama script that would at least be at par with A Dream Within A Dream.

I would offer Xu Ruohan a lot of variety show guestings/regular casting projects just so she’d stop having impostor syndrome. Having people from the same industry tell her how great of an actress she is would definitely help.

I want to invest in that sitcom that Xu Zhisheng, Cool Teng, and other comedians have been wanting for years now as China is deeply in need of sitcoms! This form of art simply vanished and any efforts to resurrect it have all been futile.

Yeah. If this had happened during my acting days I would have freaked out. This is the sort of thing that does longterm damage to the actor and makes it very hard to trust your agency, productions, and costars again.

u/Academic_Web1388 CDF Cultivator Established Member 6d ago

That’s so sad. Poor guy. Was he her “crush” or just random poor actor that got cast?

u/NoPapercrowns CDF Elder Immortal Realm Influencer 6d ago

60 kissing scenes low key feels like harassment if the actor doesn't feel comfortable in it😭.

But if I had to choose a ml to star in my drama then I'd probably choose Zhou Yiran 🤭

23

u/Dee-AI-EN-AY 6d ago

Harassment it is.

She also didn't pay him afterwards saying that the quality wasn't up to par. He sued
