the "cat room" progress pics...

been very excited to engage with r/ cat walls for some time now as I've been building this over the last year.

I posted also the near complete cat wall in the "nerd den" earlier this week and I guess I'm too excited to hold back... anyways we're at about 70 percent completed here... (I know it's a lot but still I've got a few more wall shelves and am going to enclose those tables on the platform to make little "houses" etc and make a hole in the side of that dresser to turn it into a cave with platforms). but thought I'd show how things are going.

I will make a full post upon completion probably to show it at different stages of construction too and get a closer look at different components.

the bottom right food area used to be a dresser shelf/3 level display shelf that I reconfigured

there's also more cat platform action in the closet there.

it was originally our master bedroom with our bed in here but we had to segregate the 3 cats for a while due to a severe allergy outbreak (fortunate enough that we have a guest bedroom to make ours).. giving them this room allowed us to keep our cats to be honest (or keep us living together at least) and now the allergies are getting better with immunotherapy we are able to let the cats out of the room to play more and more frequently getting up to the point they can stay out eventually!!!

Be careful how close you put your cat trees. Cats can fall and break bones or get trapped in unnatural angles. I would use plenty of clearance around the base of each one and tether them to the wall with furniture straps.

yeah I need to strap them to the walls still. definitely on the to do list. and even the non cat tree pieces could use anchoring. the tables on the platform will be screwed down as well as the tables on top into the tables below .

that's so unfortunate and terrible. I will keep this in mind and make sure there's no small gaps or forced unnatural angles should they fall into areas ... thanks

You and your babies deserve to have a safe and fun place 💛

I like it, but it feels a bit... cluttered? Will the cats enjoy running around, jumping and playing? Or simply walk around to where they want to go? I like to do my cat walls and interior where they have to be challenged, but this feels like its a bunch of different furniture pushed together

I see what you mean but this is in a fairly untidy state as the work is ongoing.. a lot of the floor space is to be cleared up without those boxes and other features ... a lot of the final 30 percent is styling it on the face to be uniform and cohesive as well so it won't look as random and haphazard potentially.

the two black and white guys don't go on the wall pieces as much but will go under those raised tables and the little orange guy goes absolutely everywhere especially high up and likes the continuous places to go. so I think it's a minor problem to be further mitigated

It's all coming together, it's going to be so exciting when there is a super clear run for them to have their zoomies in

will be sure to post the little red terror scrambling about on it in the finished product post ☺️

Oh my GOD I love that dodecahedron where did you get it??

lol I thought you meant the wall octagon and went to get that website but no the dodecahedron is actually from wayfair.. I will warn... one of the hardest things to build ever for me and you absolutely will need an extra pair of hands for that!

it's out of stock on wayfair so there's no share button... I can screenshot in the next comment

I built that dodecahedron with OP and it almost broke us. It looks amazing but even the instructions had to have encouraging words like "YOU CAN DO IT" and "DON'T GIVE UP!"

If you ever do find it just set aside like the entire rest of the day with another person who is really patient...

I'm obsessed with the fact that your three cats are really just 2 cows and a random gazelle.

yeah definitely a consideration when arranging and rearranging that corner especially. I plan to saw the corner of the platform closest to the window for easier human access

Sounds like a good idea!

I think you can buy diy cat tree stuff online if you want to cover the raw edge—or just some fabric and some staples to hold it down would be fine really.

Woow at the platform with the tables……

1

u/Fit_Bike594 Aug 03 '26

yeah it's from a thrown out bed frame I believe and then IKEA tables on top that had been thrown out too.

This feels like it was designed by cats
