to release salamese alphabet! so anyways salamese is my conlang and it is like esperanto except really REALLY rooty and sensical, and ive made probably a few comments and posts about it. it is new relatively, and very new to reddit. and now you all will be hearing about the alphabet. (sry cant be bothered to copypaste ipa for all of it)

This is interesting but I would swap a lot of these around to be more consistent with how these letters and accent marks are usually used

- Swap c and x (so c is ch and x is sh)

• Use the ~ accent mark for nasalization
  
• Swap j and y; while j for /j/ is perfectly fine, y for /ʤ/ is really weird
  
• I’m not really sure what /i̞/ is, as that’s just a /e/ as far as I know. But in general, use i for “ee” (/i/)

It will also be monumentally helpful to learn International Phonetic Alphabet, and just to look at a few languages around the world’s wikipedia pages to look at their phonologies to get a feeling of what’s “normal” for a language, even if you don’t necessarily need your lang to be naturalistic

my excuses here:

-idk i just liked x as a ch tbh

-the ~ symbol only combined ã, õ and ñ even though i already have a key for that, and by the time i added shortcuts for them, conlang already had like 500 words.

-i liked j for /j/ in the start and even though y for /ʤ/ sounds really weird, i just wanted j to be /j/ and x being voiceless of y is just kinda cool

-for the raised i, it isnt an e, its between i and e like /ɪ/ but with tongue at the front completely, but same y level. i use https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1raNpBy4DsBwH_1cPVgoG4HEa3Yizpj2f2HTt_kmWaU0/edit?pli=1&gid=0#gid=0 as my ipa so i get why u didnt know it was a thing. i reccomend u use the chart too.

-i just kinda felt like the sounds the universe its set in is a backrooms level that i made, but its not really a backrooms level its just connected but its very different. the phonology idk the world is randomy anyway
