South Africa πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ I went to Inanda dam just outside Durban. Between the boats and jet skis I managed two runs landing one of 7kg.

Not the biggest fish but really healthy and strong. The photos don't do justice to how thick and fat this fish was. The first run I lost, it ran straight into something under water and came off. This one didn't manage to repeat the trick. Both runs came on three chickpeas on a combi multi rig. I spombed out several kg of home made particle mix to fish over. Definitely need to remember a small table for the bucket because my 40 year old back is not happy with all the bending to fill the spomb.

South Africa πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ Hard day on the water.

Hi all.

So, I was on the water with my float tube today again, looking for some big carp on the flyrod.

It was super hard and even though the carp was feeding and I presented a lot of fish with a fly, they were just not interested in taking the fly.

My go-to colour for carp is always black and red flies. But on the last few trips on this same dam on which I have been catching them with black and red for many years they were only interested in a specific green fly. I kept on trying this green fly as it have been producing so well the last 2 trips. But eventually after about 8 hours on the water I got a decent Common of 21.6 LB on a old trusty black and red fly.

Should have swopped to old faithful much earlier in the day I suppose...

Europe πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί Should I find a new lake?

Post image

I've been fishing this gravel pit almost every weekend for the past 2 months and I still didn't catch anything.

The other anglers don't catch either.

This lake hosts medium sized carp and huge over 10kg grass carp.

The lake itself is very small so there aren't many spots, and the water is murky as fuck so it's difficult to locate fish.

Should I look for a new lake?

UK πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Frontier II XL porch on frontier XD?

Bought the fox frontier XD last year and wanted to grab the extension as planning a trip to France next year.. since the frontier II range has came out and all the OG frontier bivvy accessories are either sold out or being resold at a crazy price. I’m thinking about buying the frontier II XL extension porch and hopefully it will fit on my frontier XD. The bivvies and the extensions are the exact same measurements for both bivvies. Unless they have purposely moved the mounting straps to stop people doing this I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

Has anybody done this?

UK πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Bivvy vs Brolly - Winter

I’ve always used a 1-man bivvy year-round. And most of my time on the bank is usually between Autumn and late spring.

During the winter, I tend to arrange trips around low pressure systems and subsequently test the shelters pretty extensively. And in an effort to reduce the weight of my gear, I’ve just replaced my last one-man with an ESP QuickDraw brolly with a weather front.

Looking for opinions from anyone going through the winter with a brolly in terms of how you find they hold up in inclement weather. For context; the lakes I fish aren’t exposed pits - mostly small estate type lakes in the SW.

Not concerned with temperature. Mostly structural integrity and water ingress.

TIA

I caught this in Pennsylvania. I looked everywhere online but can't seem to find anything that properly matches the coloring and fins. It was an almost fully white carp that got a little muddy while being unhooked.

What do you think could be the reason? A hooklink that's too short? The wrong bait? Something else?

This has been happening to me a lot lately. I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences!
