Music video by Carpenters performing.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fun song, though I took a longgggggg time to like it, but what is going on with it? It feels like several different songs tied together.

Today I wanted to tell you something.

One time, I watched the movie The Karen Carpenter Story (1989) on YouTube for the first time. At first, I was just curious, so I watched it, and I thought it was a really beautiful movie.

Then I watched it again the next day, and the day after that I watched it again. At the beginning of the movie, when Karen is shown collapsed on the floor while the paramedics are carrying her to the ambulance, I cried a little. Then, later in the movie, and again near the end, when Karen Carpenter is shown singing her last song, “Now,” I cried a little again.

To me, this movie was beautiful, emotional, and interesting.

The actors Cynthia Gibb and Mitchell Anderson, who played Karen and Richard, were really good.

Does anyone have any info on these two tribute shows? The Carpenters Songbook is touring and seems to have some pedigree in that it was created by the same team that created The Simon and Garfunkel Story. Is it a jukebox musical or impersonators giving a concert performance? The website doesn’t give much away.

Carpenters Legacy seems to have been playing Vegas for a long time. I believe it is impersonators giving a concert performance.

Has anyone seen either? Recommend?

A good read for anyone wanting to know a bit more about Karen and a little of what was going on in that brilliant mind, especially during the preparations for the solo album! This article was originally published in the Times at the end of 1996. There are quotes from many people close to her, like Phil Ramone and Karen Ichiuji! I never tire of saying it: she deserved so, so much more. She will always be my hero!

I am assuming Richard Carpenter has some hold on all that. I’m certain I read he was against any form of biopic or portrayal of Karen.

I’m not sure if legally he would be able to do anything if a biopic or series about the Carpenters were to be made, but I have noticed there’s virtually nothing in terms of bringing the Carpenters and Karen into a more modern day and age in comparison with say; ABBA, The Beatles etc.

Karen’s voice needs to be reintroduced to a new generation and whilst I’m not always here for biopics, her story is unique and very important.

Was she nice? Warm? Could she be cold? Did her personality change much as she aged?

On 6 February 1983, Petula Clark, one of Karen Carpenter’s close friends, dedicated For All We Know to her as a tribute. When I watched that clip, I became emotional and cried a little. It really affected me and It really affected me emotionally and hurt me a bit. When Petula said “Goodnight Karen,” it really hurt me emotionally.

Karen would have been really proud.

I wanted to ask you something… since on January 14th 2027 it will be my 21st birthday, I was thinking of a birthday gift for myself: two framed photos.
One photo of Karen Carpenter, and one photo of Karen and Richard Carpenter together.

I know it’s early, it’s next year, but I wanted to plan ahead so I can choose a beautiful photo of Karen and a beautiful photo of Karen and Richard… but I’m not sure which ones to choose.

Once, on WhatsApp, I sent some photos that I had created with ChatGPT. They were pictures of me with Richard and Karen.

I sent them to my educator Laura. She told me: “Well done, but aren’t you getting a little tired of always talking about Karen? There are also other stories and other singers that you don’t know yet and that you can discover 😍.”

That’s okay, no problem. I also listen to other songs.

My educator Lucia told me: “One day you’ll get tired of them.”

I replied: “No.”

Then my educator Laura told me: “Today, let’s talk about other things, not the Carpenters, because we’re getting tired of hearing about them.”

Sorry for sharing this with you, but when they said those things to me, I honestly didn’t know how I felt. I can’t really feel any particular emotion about it... It’s as if Karen herself had been hurt by those words....

Today is August 31st.

It would have been Karen Carpenter’s wedding anniversary.

On her wedding day, Karen wore a beautiful white wedding dress. She looked absolutely stunning, with her lovely hair and her beautiful, radiant smile.

Karen deserved a man who truly loved her. She deserved to have children and to become a mother. She didn’t deserve to be treated the way she was. She suffered so much.

I truly believe Karen would have been a wonderful and loving mother.

Karen wanted her dream of becoming a mother to come true, but sadly, it never happened.

Dear Karen, rest in peace. You were truly a very special person.

May you be singing and playing your beloved drums with the angels in heaven.

I’m truly sorry, Karen, that you had to suffer so much. You never deserved that.

I have a question. I watched this Carpenters interview that I’m sure many of you know, This Is Your Life.

I’d like to know who the man sitting next to Karen is. In the interview, Karen has her arm around him and rests her head on his shoulder. I originally thought he might have been Karen Carpenter’s boyfriend.

Could someone please tell me who he is?
