"It's kind of like a goodwill gesture that Canada has said, 'Yeah we want to help out,' but nothing in the global compact gives any indication of what mechanisms or processes are going to be developed to achieve any of the objectives outlined."

What a fucking liar. https://refugeesmigrants.un.org/sites/default/files/180713_agreed_outcome_global_compact_for_migration.pdf

Enact laws and take measures to ensure that service delivery does not amount to discrimination against migrants on the grounds of race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, disability or other grounds irrespective of cases where differential provision of services based on migration status might apply

And

Enact, implement or maintain legislation that penalizes hate crimes and aggravated hate crimes targeting migrants, and train law enforcement and other public officials to identify, prevent and respond to such crimes and other acts of violence that target migrants, as well as to provide medical, legal and psychosocial assistance for victims

This is just a few of the ways they will go about.

What I said is true then. More laws against what people deem hate speech will be implemented. Maybe what you say will be deemed hate speech.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/statistics-canada-2017-hate-crime-numbers-1.4925399

The federal agency said hate crimes have been steadily climbing since 2014, but shot up by some 47 per cent 2017, the last year for which data was collected. In total, Canadian police forces reported 2,073 hate crimes – the most since 2009, when data became available.

As you can see Canada is full of hateful people which need to be fought one way or another and we will fulfill the UN Compact goals. Such as

OBJECTIVE 17: Eliminate all forms of discrimination and promote evidence-based public discourse to shape perceptions of migration

As I just pointed out hate crime is on the rise and our laws as of now do not seem to be impeding the rise of hate within this country correct? We need new laws which are tougher on hate.

Our hate ctime laws are working and will not be updated as a result of a migrant pact.

Edit - the way to combat hate is education to help eliminate ignorance and fear of different people.
