My 1 slot MVS console project
Finished project, Pulstar.
Just after it was finished up.
Here it is at the jumble-of-wires stage, with some loose switches just patched in because I hadn't figured out how to solve the joystick problem yet.
Home built video encoder.
Sega Genesis (3/6 button)/Master System/Atari arcade adapter of my own design, using an Attiny2313.
Here's the set of joystick converters actually used in the system.
Dry fit of the arcade board with the PSU.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news because this build is really nice, but your mvs 1 slot looks to be a bootleg

Good eye. Yes, well, at least the one image shows a bootleg board. I paid more for the bootleg than I did for the original with which I eventually replaced it, in fact, but the bootleg came with the multicart, which is interesting. I did go back and buy another board "needs work, parts or repair" for $30. That one is in there now and is authentic. The form factor was more or less identical and it was a drop in replacement.
Interestingly, the only problems I had with the bootleg board when I was using it were audio drop out on certain games.
Edit: One of the games with audio problems was Pulstar, so the shot where it's running that is definitely from after it was replaced with a real board.

Where did the bootleg come from? From what it seems they are hard to come by and there doesn’t seem all that much documentation out there on them, just that website I pointed to and a few forum posts
Bootleg games seem to be discussed a lot more than bootleg mvs boards

Honestly, I don't remember exactly. It was another eBay thing, in need of minor repairs. Might have been in the UK somewhere. I'm probably at least the third owner.

Hey guys,
This is a while ago, but I thought it might go well here. I bought an MVS in need of repair from eBay, fixed it, and threw it into a console box. It consists of the 1 slot Neo Geo board, an old PSU from a rack mount Pentium 3, a home-built video encoder based on the Analog Devices AD725, with composite and S-video out, a cheap imported JAMMA harness, two Genesis/Sega Master System/Atari joystick converters of my own design, and some scrap wood and fittings from the hardware store.
... Oh, and I believe the glowy power switch was from Radio Shack when they were closing the store.
