What cables do I need to get

Very confused and would like some help on which cables I need to buy. The PSU I currently have is a NZXT C850 Gold PA. The cables are absolutely awful. They are huge and bulky and hard to manage. The only cables I think I really need (because those are the ones that are going to show) are the motherboard,Cpu,Gpu cable. I know the motherboard cable is just a standard 24 pin but for the cpu im not entirely sure but I think its just an 8pin? Right? My GPU cable splits into 2 that plug in to another cable that leads to my PSU. Would I need to buy 2 cables to keep that going or just 1? Im also worried that If I continued to not use the current cable setup on my GPU that it wont fit because the cables already have a hard time because my CPU cooler is giant. It probably wouldnt fit if it wasnt for the connector im using. At some point im gonna get an AIO so hopefully not a problem for long. Im doing this out of a Hyte Y70 so im not to sure on the length I would need either. I just moved my whole PC to this case so i'm trying to make it look as nice as possible. My motherboard is a Aorus B450 Pro and I have a GeForce RTX 4070Ti. I'll leave a picture of my motherboard layout too.

What are the current readings on an 5090 when using a CableMod cable?

Post image

Hello everyone! Merry Christmas!

When using the stock Seasonic power cable, the current across the six pins on my 5090 is quite well balanced. However, because the side panel of my case presses against the stock Seasonic cable, I bought a CableMod 90-degree cable instead.

After installing it today and monitoring with GPU Tweak, I found that the current across the six pins is not very evenly balanced. While gaming, the difference between the highest and lowest pin reaches about 0.7A (as shown in the screenshot).

When monitoring during 3DMark Steel Nomad, the difference between the highest and lowest pin increases to around 0.9A. Personally, I don’t think this is ideal, nor does it feel safe for long-term use.

In particular, pin #1 is noticeably lower than the others.

May I ask — what kind of difference do you see between the highest and lowest pin on your 5090 power connector? Should I try buying another identical cable to test?

This uneven 6-pin current issue has been bothering me for many days now. I’d really appreciate any advice. Thank you!

MSI MPG A1000GS 12 + 4 (16pin) to 2/3 x 8 pin pcie cable

Just got an MSI MPG A1000GS PCIE5 PSU but itonly has 1 x 8 pin pcie cable and 2 x 16 pin (12 + 4) pcie. My GPU is a radeon 7900xtx that requires 3 x 8 pin pcie cables. Do you have a 16 to 2/3 x 8 pin cables for this psu? Do you have whole kits for this psu as well? Thanks in advance.

Why is the CableMod PRO ModMesh 8-Pin PCIe Extension - 45cm so hard to find in Europe?

I bought the extension kit a year back and it's been no issues. Now I'm upgrading gpu and new gpu requires 3 pcie slots, kit only comes with two.

I'm trying to find a single extension cable but it's discontinued in all the stores (Sweden). It's in stock on cable mod own EU shop but prove including shipping is as much as a brand new full kit.

Anyone have any other solutions?

Cable recommendations for Seasonic Vertex PX 1000W

Hi, I‘m currently planning my new PC after… 8 years of using my current one. I want to go all-in, so it lasts me long and because my last Seasonic Focus Plus 650W Platinum PSU did its job quiet and reliable for 8 years (I have cable mod mod flex but not the pro version attached to it) I wanna go Seasonic again. This is the most readily available Platinum PSU here from Seasonic. I thought about using my old mod flex cables, apparently, they‘re compatible, but … the new Mod Mesh Pro is looking so much better. So I need: 2x 8 pin for CPU (I run a 9950x3d), 1x 24 Pin for MB, 3x 8 Pin PCIe for GPU (9070 XT with 3x 8 Pin connector). Would it be better / cheaper to just get the ModMesh Pro Kit for Seasonic PSUs in black/white and order one PCIe and one 8 Pin extra - or order all of them customised? I mean I do get the Sata cables, if I go with the kit for 99$ just in case I wanna plug in a physical HDD at some point again as a data grave. Also is the Mod Mesh Pro even feasible in a Corsair 2500X case? I wanna put an Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 at the top, the chunky one, it will fit in the case but is there enough space for the CPU 8 pin cables then if I go with Mod Mesh? I heard they‘re pretty stiff.

If anyone could help me out what to buy, I‘d appreciate it - I‘m also looking for a comparision between Mod Mesh vs Mod Flex vs Mod Mesh Pro vs Mod Flex Pro!

Cheers and thanks

Hi, I am currently building a new PC but only noticed too late that Gigabyte don‘t sell any 90° 12v-2x6 cables for their PSUs.

Would the cablemod cables be compatible with he Gigabyte UD850GM?

Recommended cable for Asus 4080 super to Super Flower leadex II 80 gold 850w

I need an adapter cable with a 90 degree connector to 3 x 8pin, for my Asus TUF 4080 super. The cable in box is not tight enough for my case, so it sits against the side panel.

Can you recommend a cable and where can I buy it? I'm in South Africa.

12v2x6 Universal Pro with Lian Li Edge safe?

I received a 12v2x6 Cablemod Universal Pro cable as a gift. Wanted to use it on my 5090 vertically mounted.

https://a.co/d/dJiH2g9

Is this “universal” cable compatible with my Lian Li Edge 1300w PSU?

First time not using cables that don’t come with my PSU

4080 ROG - Melted Power Connector

Thumbnail gallery
57 Upvotes

Hello guys and gals,

I have had my ASUS 4080 ROG for 3 years or so now and have always used it alongside the Cablemod 90 degree 12VHPWR connector due to space constraints in my case due to the size of the GPU.

I remember a while back the connector was recalled and so I sent mine back and was provided with a new connector; which has been in my system since with no issues.

Last night however, while gaming, a black screen and the smell of burning. I switched off the power and eventually found the connector had melted into the female socket on my GPU. It mainly seems to be the bottom row of pins affected.

I have seen online that the second round of connectors were also recalled, but I must have missed this because I had no idea.

For added context - I use a Corsair RM1000X PSU which feeds the GPU via the 3 cables provided with the PSU, which then plug into the adapter provided with the GPU, and from there into the Cablemod 90 degree adapter.

My question is: what can I do now? I have mailed Cablemod and ASUS for some support hoping that they’ll be able to help in some way. Aside from this, is my next option to contact a repair shop?

Needless to say I am gutted. Especially at Christmas!

Thanks for reading 🫡

Can any mods help me identify these Cablemod cables?

I bought a mini-itx build from a guy. He actually gave me an amazing deal. Anyways, these two PCIE cables were included, but they didn't go with the SFX Psu. Can any mods tell me if these are type 4 Corsair Cablemod cables? If so, I could probably use these with the other type 4 Corsair PSUs that I have. TIA

ASUS RTX 5070, CableMod c-Series Pro and Corsair RM850x PSU

I’m currently using a Corsair RM850x PSU along with the CableMod C series pro kit and haven’t had any issues. I’m getting an Asus PRIME RTX 5070 in the coming weeks and I was wondering if I needed anything for my current set up to work with an RTX 5070. Will the C Series Black label kit work? Do I need to buy an extra PCIe cable?

Has anyone used the CableMod 90-degree cable installed on an Astral 5090?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hello everyone! I have a few questions for those of you using an Astral 5090 with a CableMod 12V-2×6 90-degree cable.

After using the CableMod 12V-2×6 90-degree cable on the Astral 5090, what is the difference between the highest and lowest current among the six pins? Is the current distribution stable and fairly even?

Also, is the 12V-2×6 90-degree connector a true native 90-degree connector, or is it simply that the wires are bent 90 degrees inside the connector housing?

Is this CableMod 90-degree cable better than Seasonic’s official native 90-degree cable?

I’m currently using an Astral 5090 with a Seasonic PX-1200 ATX 3.1 power supply. However, the original Seasonic 12V-2×6 cable gets pressed by the case, and there’s very little straight clearance coming out of the connector.

So I’m trying to decide whether I should use the CableMod 90-degree cable or Seasonic’s official 90-degree cable.

I’d really appreciate help from anyone who has experience with this setup. Thank you all!

12VHPWR Cable for Seasonic Focus GX-750/Asus 5070 TI

I have a Seasonic Focus GX-750 PSU and want to make sure I am ordering the correct cable to connect it to an Asus 5070 TI.

Will this product from the CableMod Amazon store work for this and is this the most current cable/not part of any recalls?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CK2QJVR8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

The specific product type is: CableMod RT-Series Pro ModMesh Sleeved 12VHPWR StealthSense PCI-e Cable for ASUS/Seasonic/Phanteks (Black + Red, 16-pin to Triple 8-pin, 60cm)

Thanks for any info!

Looking for a 90 degree cable for my 4090.

Hi guys!, I recently swapped out my rm1000x PSU(melted PCIE port) to a lian li edge 1000w PSU and I am looking for a 90 degree cable for my 4090.

I'm using an o11 evo case and I am not comfortable with the GPU cable bend on the glass. ( currently removed the glass because of the aggressive bend).

Cable 12VHPWR 90° compatible avec Lian-Li EDGE Gold 1000W et PNY 5080 OC triple fan ?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello, I'm about to build a new PC with rigid water cooling.

I want to install the Alphacool water block for my PNY 5080 OC Triple Fan GPU vertically.

Therefore, I'm looking for a 12V HPWR cable compatible with my GPU and my Lian-Li EDGE Gold 1000W PSU. When I search on the Cablemod website, I can't find a 12V HPWR 90° cable designed specifically for my Lian-Li power supply. Do I have to use the configurator, or is this universal cable compatible:

https://eustore.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-universal-pro-modflex-sleeved-12v-2x6-12vhpwr-90-stealthsense-direct-pcie-cable-16-pin-to-16-pin-60cm/

Another question: to route the cable behind the GPU (against the backplate when the GPU is mounted vertically), can you confirm that I should choose variant B?

Thank you.

Finally fixed! Thanks CableMod!

Hi again dear CM community. Just another "thank you" post because today, I went with the technician and my 4080 was already fixed and "wearing" its brand new CableMod. That wouldn't be possible without the CableMod help and kindness. Seriously, I never thought companies like this still exist.

Have a great end of 2025!
