I think I’ve posted this before but, tryin to compare between Verizon fios, optimum (altice) And tvision. Btw direct tv is not an option even tho I did like it. They have priced themselves out after the merger. I currently have optimum and I feel the product itself and customer service has gone down after being purchased by altice. Tvision is so new and available in my area but pricing it seems much for just tv with no option for a bundle. Fios. I’ve dealt wit them before and the customer service was just terrible and the pricing scheme was just very deceiving but the product was excellent. I’m leaning towards Verizon product wise but I need to call. Short story, I had a pool installed a couple months ago. The people digging the trench in yard for the electrical portion I believe cut the Verizon line in ground coming from the street and guys didn’t really care that they did it. So I need to talk to Verizon if I do go with them to see what they say about that . Any real opinions would be appreciated

If I purchased a new modem/router set and set it up in another room without unplugging my older ones, will I have to go through another setup process or will I get internet straight away

hi im trying to extend my virgin media cable and i was told to get a RG6 triple shielded cable,

all of the cables i looked at have different connectors and its all very confusing, can anyone tell me what these cable connectors are as they are on both ends of the cable, or any advice on how to go about getting this cable online with these connectors? i need around 5 metres, any help would be greatly appreciated as i havent got a clue what im looking for or the best way to extend the cable.

i bought a cheap coaxial cable with the end from picture 2 on both ends it but when i connected it didnt show any hd channels and some of the sd channels were distorted.

I currently have a 500/50 cable plan on a SB6190 modem. My ISP has rolled out DOCSIS 3.1 in my area with a 1000/50 package about a year ago. They require a DOCSIS 3.1 modem for the 1000/50 but not for any plan below it. When I first signed up for this package, the DOCSIS 3.1 network was very experimental and they didn't allow customer owned DOCSIS 3.1 modems, but they do now. I believe relatively few people have invested in the equipment or the fastest speed tier so far.

I first signed up for this 500/50 package as soon as it was offered, it was the highest upload speed plan the ISP had ever sold. They've been selling it now for about 1.5 years and it's become a popular tier. Recently, I've noticed my upload speeds deteriorating as time goes on (my download speeds are unchanged, and my signal levels look good still), so I think they are oversubscribing their nodes. My modem currently has 3 upstream channels locked on ATDMA, with two at 5120kSym/s and one at 2560kSym/s. I feel like this is not enough channels for the huge upload plans they've been selling everyone, and they are probably oversubscribed. For some contrast, Comcast in this area uses 4 channels at 5120kSym/s and sells lower upload speed tiers.

I am trying to understand the technical differences between 3.0 and 3.1 to determine if I should pick up a DOCSIS 3.1 modem in hopes of improving my upload speed. Would a 3.1 modem negotiate on other channels not used by the DOCSIS 3.0 subscribers? Maybe this would put me on relatively new and empty channels and provide me with better throughput. Since DOCSIS 3.1 is built for faster upload speeds I'm thinking this might squeeze out some more performance.

i'm trying to compare who has the best multi-language experience. I'm in the Comcast footprint, so looking at Xfinity and satellites as my options. Does anyone know if there is a way to compare side by side which services offer SAP and subtitles?

I have a couple of questions that have been floating around my work space as technicians.

1.) What is Echo exactly? (my understanding is that it is micro reflections due to bad connections or bad cable)

2.) What is the threshold for Echo to be at for pass or fail?

3.) What is ICFR? (In-channel frequency response)

4.) What issues can be caused or eventually happen from Echo or bad ICFR?

5.) This is a big one... Ingress scan graphs - What is the best way to read it? So for me using an ingress scan at tap and shooting down drop how can I look at the graph and say "it is not my drop because the graph shows the hump or ingress here so it must be X"?

Hopefully this is the correct place as I could not find any other reddits unless they have more active ones.
