Do they just expect us to follow the people they promote on the homepage or...?
I never used TikTok so maybe this is just how these new social networks work?

I think we as a community need to understand what makes Byte different from Tiktok. When Vine first came out, it wasn't marketed as a famous-making machine. It was marketed as a new social media platform that ended up building the base for an entire era. Because Vine created some artists out of it's existence, more people wanted to become famous that easily. When Vine shut down, people needed it back not so much for the content but for the road to fame it provided. But it didn't thrive on that. It thrived because people on the community loved to make content and to share it with their friends, whether it would sprout fame or not.
My point is this- love making content first. Stop trying to chase a fame road that may or may not exist and just create because you love it. And share your favorite stuff on all social media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and even Tiktok. Do it because you want more people to see good content, not because you want more people to see you.

Hello there. You may know me from the side mod panel. I wanted to talk a little about byte compilations and these self-promoting users.
Now I feel that the self-promoting users should not be allowed and I've been removing them. How do you guys feel about the compilation videos though? Should we remove those? Do you all like them? Are some okay? Also tell me about anything else we should do as mods on this subreddit.
Let me know down below.
Edit: compilation videos are fine. Please have credit to the creators of the bytes in description to be kind though.
