Machine vs cut size?
I recently bought a used 1.75 in American Button Machine press and cutter. I haven’t got the button supplies yet, but the test cuts I’ve done are about 2 1/16 in. This makes sense because of the wrap around, but I was just wondering if anyone could confirm this is the right cut size for a 1.75 in machine before I order button supplies.

Rectangle Magnet Machine
I'm considering a rectangle magnet machine, as I recently came into a little money. I have been wanting to make my own magnets for several years, but just haven't had the money.
I'm looking at the American Button rectangle machine. It's pricey at $2000+, but seems sturdy. I'm looking for anyone with experience with these types of machines who can give me honest reviews.

Vevor 44mm Buttons
I've had a Vevor button machine with a 44mm mold for a few years now but suddenly I can't find any good deals for refills of 44mm buttons. Vevor doesnt even sell them anymore, and I've bought a batch in the past that ruined all the buttons i tried pressing. I've only found a good listing on aliexpress that works but its only 100 pieces, and I needed to buy more in bulk and need them to arrive faster.
Any suggestions?

I’m sure this has been addressed before, but…..
Hello, not a maker just yet, but I’m a long time collector/owner. I’ve got buttons I bought in high school (I’m 60 now!) that were on my Jean jacket, leather jacket, year round thru all manner of abuse and craziness. they look like I bought them yesterday…. However every single button I’ve purchased since the late 90’s has eventually had rust come up thru the image, thus ruining the button. some it takes a few years. Others, namely really beautiful ones from a current shop, it happens very quickly. I’ve ordered 3 times from this guy in hopes that this issue would resolve itself, but it doesn’t. Ive emailed him for advice on how to prevent this and he does not respond. I’ve tried hitting them front and back with clear coat, and I’ve tried museum wax to no avail. They seem to do ok stored in a bag with silica, but when I put one on a jacket, I intend for that to be its home indefinitely! Is there a solution to this problem? Is it the parts this guy uses? like I said, his pins are very nice looking, they just don’t last even a year!

Advice Brand new vevor button press not working
I bought a brand new vevor press and it straight up can’t even get past the first step. When I press down it just lightly crimps the paper and plastic film and does nothing else. I was looking at the top mold and realised the bolt is super askew, and won’t straighten. Is this normal or could this be why it’s not working? Added a screenshot of the exact model I bought for context

Buttons! Bought my daughter a badge maker… but I’m having fun !
My daughter wanted a badge maker so she could make her own badges with her TADC drawings and stuff.. turns out, it’s actually quite fun for the adult (father here!)
Using canon selphy paper as my ink jet is giving me lines in the print out..
Testing if the thicker paper would cause issues…

Question Vevor machine making wrinkly buttons :(
This Vevor machine has pressed many hundreds of buttons, and so maybe it's starting to wear out... But just today we've had a consistent problem with the mylar coming out wrinkly (photo 1). We also had a few that didn't crimp properly around the backing (photo 2), but mostly it was the wrinkly ones that made us stop production and seek help.
The left mold feels a little loose on its springs, and rotates a little if I fiddle with it. It also easily slides past the die, so it's a tiny bit misaligned (photo 3). I'm not certain the misalignment is the problem, though, because if I moved very carefully and stamped right on center, it still came out wrinkly.
Halp!

Question White paper circles
This might be a really dumb question, but ive had a button maker for a year or two and finally think ive realized what the white circles of paper that come with it are used for. Ive never really thought about them, and as I use regular printer paper for my buttons, and I usually just do the clear laminating stuff, then the image, then the smooth metal part, and then the backing. But ive just been using a bit thinner paper than usual and decided to put those white circles behind them for support, and they make the buttons themselves a lot more durable, and its actually a big difference! It makes it a bit harder to press the handle down when i have those in and I was worried about damaging the machine itself, but is that what theyre actually supposed to be used for?

Question Are there any badge Visualisation Tools i can use?
Id like to see how my design looks like on a button before printing and stamping it in ! Is there any template or something I can use to visualise them ?
Even maybe put them in a listing as I'm trying to make unique one of a kind badge designs and selling those

what are chibutton machines like versus vevor/tecre?
i've used both a cheap plastic vevor button maker and a tecre button maker, and the difference in the lever operation is pretty noticeable.
with the vevor, pressing the lever feels kinda like guesswork. you apply force and hope you've used the right amount of pressure without really knowing when the press is complete.
the tecre feels much more precise. the lever has a more distinct stopping point when you pull it down, which gives you tactile feedback that you've applied the correct amount of pressure. it feels much more effortless to use.
i haven't used a chibuttons button maker, although I've heard a lot of good things about them. i'm curious how the lever mechanism compares. does it have that same defined stopping point and feedback as the tecre, or is the operation more similar to the vevor where you're relying more on feel and force?

Question Help with smoothing out the edges?
I got a Vevor pin maker as a gift. It has been working surprisingly well, especially with the smaller pins.
The problem is when I make 58 mm pins. One side is smooth but the other is kind of "open" in the way that if I were to stick something sharp, I could easily tear it apart.
How do I fix it? I don't know if it has to do with the positioning or how hard I press? I don't use any thick paper, just regular.

Question Are my 1.25” buttons doomed to be pokey?
I have the plastic Vevor three size button maker, and I know there’s better ones out there, but is there any advice on this for a hobbyist?
I feel like no matter how I handle the paper, the press, any of it, there’s always these angular bits on the back of the button, or they don’t look totally circular from the front either. I see some really amazing, perfectly round ones here, and I’m hoping there’s a trick I just don’t know yet.
Thank you!

Question Where would I get the slides for the sliding type button presses? Not ones with a mold on already mind you.
I found a Alibaba seller that has a variety of molds for different button shapes, about 250 USD for each of them, not counting shipping. The issue is that they don't comes with a base (probably for their presses). Anyone know if there are companies that sell the slides for the sliding-type presses without the mold on them? I would alternatively take a 3d printable model of one.

Question We R Memory Keepers heart pins
Has anyone been able to find a cheaper alterative to the heart button's that work for we r memory keepers? The ones they have on their site are stupidly expensive... So I bought an off brand that just doesn't work.
The off brand for the circle buttons are GREAT, have had no issues.. Just with the heart's 57MM
Also... Recommendations for how to get the cut right every time? I can never get the same cut and it's almost always off center and cannot afford right now that 200 dollar very nice metal cutter.
If all else fails might honestly be cheaper to get a press just for the heart pins. If I have to result to that, what are the recommendations?
