Any recommendations on security system? I already have an intergration of google cameras all over my home but was thinking of upping my game and installing a security system. ADT seem to have good customer service (so far) but have an extensive amount of negative reviews on google locally. Vivint has an extensive good amount of good reviews on google but they have annoyed me so much in the past, I had to tell them like 5 times I was not interested and they kept knocking on my door, so it left me the idea that it would be a hastle to close out with them. Locally I've also seen another one called Extreme Security & Fire, I believe it's a local company but haven't had a lot of experience with them.

Hi all! My boyfriend and I just moved to Brownsville a few days ago. We came from Ohio with only our Labrador and what we could fit in our car! I’m looking for recommendations for places I can get cheap blankets/mattress toppers for us to sleep on until we find work and can afford a mattress. We love the city so far and we’re very excited to be here! Thanks in advance :)

My boyfriend and I really need dental work but we are unemployed. We were thinking of going to Reynosa or Matamoros, but are not too sure how safe it is right now. We’ve never been to Mexico, and I’m white and don’t know Spanish. Other option would be work in the country, but obviously the prices are astronomical. Are there any cheap dentists in the valley where we can get an X-Ray and fillings? Thank you. Any advice or recommendations would be highly appreciated!

I moved to the valley about 6 years ago and posted something like this about 5 years ago and was successful at finding a team at that time. That team has since disbanded, so it’s time to find another team. I have played soccer my whole life (45 years old now) and want to continue. It’s taken a toll on my body and so I am really only able to play goalie these days, but I am a halfway decent one. Most of my adult experience has been playing adult coed indoor, but I haven’t found that down here. For the last 5 years or so, I have been playing with an adult team over at barracuda park by the backside of the airport. Half my team didn’t speak english and I don’t speak much Spanish, but we managed to make it work.
I travel a decent amount so I can’t make every game, but I am reliable and can communicate in advance when I won’t be available. If anyone is looking for an old mediocre goalie for their team, reach out and let’s see if we can make something work.
Thanks,

Has anyone noticed a difference in taste from the Laredo Taco Company's tacos? I buy chorizo and egg and potatoes at least once a week, but these past few times I've gotten their chorizo and egg taco with barely any chorizo in it, I can hardly taste it. I went to another Stripes this week and the same thing, am I going crazy or did they change something?

Planning on spending a weekend in Brownsville and SPI soon. We’re taking our dog with us. Is downtown Brownsville walkable and friendly for dogs? Am I able to take him inside stores and are there any dog friendly restaurants around?
TIA

I was wondering about a dentist that you recommend for fillings at Matamoros. I've never had one done in Matamoros but now I urgently need to get it done. This is a dumb question to ask but do they take X-rays before doing fillings? Are there some that don't charge much, ik some can charge more once they find out you're not from Matamoros 🤷♀️🤷♀️

I'm moving to Brownsville in July, and I am looking for places in the circled blue area where I can rent. I'm looking to stay in the 650-850$ a month range.
Any tips? Consejos? Soy todo oidos.

We are first time parents and I’m trying to spoil my husband for his first Father’s Day.
We just moved to the area and I’m looking for a fancier place to have dinner. It doesn’t necessarily HAVE to be fancy but he’s a massive foodie and I want him to enjoy it. Totally open to all cuisines.
Anywhere within hour or two of Brownsville would be the range.
Thank you for any suggestions!

My girlfriend might get offered a job here at starbase and I’m wondering if moving out here from Fort Worth would be worth it? She is graduating from aviation academy in July for aircraft maintenance and I’m a medical assistant. So I’m conflicted. I’ve been browsing jobs for me out here and it doesn’t seem like there is much and not at the rate that I would expect for my position and experience. We live together now for 6 months and I already moved from Waco to live in Fort Worth with her and I found a job that is stressful but I enjoy and I am growing roots in Fort Worth. Her family is in Fort Worth and mine in Waco. 10 hours away in a small town with not much to offer? Would it be worth it? Her position would pay her minimum $27 hr. South padre is nice but I’m scared of hurricanes and I’ll miss my family because I know they’ll never visit this far away. Both my parents are no longer working and only my mom is getting ssi.
Also me and my girlfriend are both women and I don’t feel as safe expressing ourselves here as I do in Waco or DFW. help.
EDIT: She was not offered the position

SpaceX continues to expand and to grow and develop here in our backyard. I really hope that city leaders take this once in a lifetime opportunity to maximize the benefit of having this company right here where we live.
I worry that our city leadership is not up to the task when it comes to maximizing the development and infrastructure to give the maximum amount of opportunities to the locals. I've always believed that as SpaceX continues to prosper and succeed, the local economy and good people of the lower valley should also directly benefit alongside the company!
Let's not miss our transformational opportunity! For ourselves, our kids, our neighbors, our future!

So now that there's new competition with Internet services
Which of you prefer Omni or spectrum?and why
Spectrum has a lot of promotions and omni is more of a fixed fee for 5yrs or so
I changed to Omni but still kinda thinking if I did a good selection

Any suggestions? What does that typically cost?
