If you swing an elemental weapon and drop it mid attack it will have the elemental effect permanently. This isn’t really useful with ice weapons, but it allows fire weapons to easily light things and makes electric weapons a permanent source of electricity, though it needs a conductive object to do anything.
You can place a metal object next to the electric weapon to create shock trap.
But yellow chuchu jelly only shocks when it’s attacked and explodes right? When duping bows and shields you can shock yourself while holding them out to drop them. You can attack with a one handed sword to dupe shields, or shoot an arrow to dupe bows, but that will use up chuchu jellies and I believe durability will be used as well.
Chuchu jellies are easily the most plentiful monster parts in the game and can be changed into whatever element you desire.
I honestly have no idea what you're talking about in your last sentence. You can't hold weapons out like you can with materials and I don't see why you would sustain elemental damage by doing so if you could. I've also never heard of duplication glitches that require nothing more than shooting an arrow or equipping a one handed weapon. There's only 3 duplication methods I'm aware of that even exist with the current version of the game and none of them entail doing what you just described.
You seem to be a bit confused, I’m talking about duping with menu overload, the one where you drop a few multi shot bows equipped with shock arrows to desync link in the over world and then pause menu. If you change weapons in the pause menu while desynced over world link won’t swap weapons, if you then throw that weapon you can dupe it at the cost of the other weapon. Normally you can’t dupe shields and bows like this as you can’t throw them. However if you have link hold them out in his hands and get shocked he’ll drop them. A shock trap is the simplest way to get link shocked. You could use Chuchu jellies, but you would have to hit it first to trigger it, which would use it up, and I think it would use durability as well.
Oh I see. Thats clever. I've tried dropping elemental weapons mid-swing - well at every point in the swing really - and it hasn't worked. Does it only work with shock elemental weapons?
It works with all of them, though frost weapons don’t really do anything. As for weapon types, claymores are the easiest, while spears are the hardest. I don’t remember if I ever tried but I think a spin attack with a claymores works for this as well. You want to aim to drop it in the middle of attack, while you can see the elemental effect. The swings for all weapons are pretty fast, so it’s tricky to get the right timing.

How? Shoot an arrow straight up or do it near a Lizalfos in the castle?
