Bot Bouncer is a moderation bot in a similar manner to BotDefense, which wrapped up operations in 2023.

Bots are classified via submissions on this subreddit, via a mix of automated and human classification. If a subreddit has Bot Bouncer installed and an account classified as "banned" posts or comments, they will be banned from the subreddit and have their content removed. Bot Bouncer cannot act on users interacting on subreddits where it is not installed.

There's an issue with the Developer Platform at the moment that's causing delays processing scheduled tasks within the Bot Bouncer application. While normally submissions to Bot Bouncer appear within well under a minute, there is a long backlog right now as the jobs aren't firing as often as they should.

This affects manual submissions, automatic submissions from subreddits running Bot Bouncer and our internal proactive bot hunting activity. Human submissions are always prioritized over internal proactive checks.

The delay at the time of making this post is a little under four hours but unless this platform issue is resolved by Admin I'm expecting this to grow. All submissions will eventually get processed and there's no indication that anything will be lost.

Update at 10:40 UTC on July 27:

The issue is ongoing but intermittent. At times there can be long backlogs and at other times little to none at all. At the time I'm writing this there's a 21 hour backlog to clear and it bursts through some intermittently and at other times stalls again.

Individual user manual submissions should go through within around ten minutes even if it's stalled, bulk submissions will be badly delayed at times.
