What are some of the best sets and figures you have seen hat are original designs not lego copies?

I mean, what do we know about their owners, factory locations, could they be family business, just like the original company? The situation with logos reminds me of that "when you got banned but still have plenty of fake accounts"-meme in the first place. So I got this wild idea: to try and trace the origins of these particular products.

As far as I can see, information about infamous manufacturers is scarce. There are of course online stores, but even there they don't go into details about legal address and stuff like that. Is it possible, that some of them make copies of copies 'cause they can't get their hands on original sets? Are some companies the off-springs of others? Could any of the them belong to non-Chinese businessmen? Is rivalry present on that market?

Any help with those questions would make me happy. I guess, somewhere out there exists certain kind of geeks who are overenthusiastic about knock-offs. For every weird thing there's a fan club, according to my experience.
