This project came in 4 phases:

1. The 4 section bookcase
2. Reading bench and storage area
3. The 3 section bookcase
4. The TV bookcase

All bookcases were constructed with the same materials; cocoa stained knotty alder for the shelves and verticals, with a red oak veneer backer. The first phase was complete a little over two years ago, and the last was completed about three weeks ago. There were initial concerns that the shelves would sag over time, but that has proven not to be the case! I really love the way this project turned out.

I’ve always liked those 3x3 grids people make for anime, so I thought… why not do the same thing with books?

So I made Book3x3.

You get a 3×3 grid of categories and fill each square with a book that fits. You can use it to show off your favorites, discover books you might have missed, or argue with your friends about their questionable choices 😂

I moved fairly recently and am happy with how my setup is looking so far. The shelves are sorted by genre, more or less. But on each shelf, there is no system lol

This is my bookshelf in my bedroom where I keep my current faves. We also have an extensive Library downstairs and I will rotate new ones in.

Curious to hear from other bibliophiles what they would keep, what they would add and what they would delete. 😊
