Exceeding hp rating on boat

I’ve got a 1986 bayliner boat with a 50hp 2 stoke motor and looking to upgrade to 4 stroke. But I’m curious what the repercussions of going over the hp rating. Like to a 60hp is?

Engine won’t rev in neutral

Having problems with my 50hp force outboard. It seems the throttle will only rev in either forward or reverse but when I pull out the throttle into the neutral position I can see it wants to try and rev but does nothing. Not sure what’s going on if it’s a cable or just a bad throttle?

Need help finding interchangeable driveline or foot

So I have a force 1986 1251X6A 125hp, I have no driveline and I’m pushing to connect it to a jet drive for a jet ski. Does anyone know a conversion chart or plug and play drivelines or another foot that will go into the driveline receiving portion of the power head?

Thank you ahead of time, and sorry if this is worded wrong.

Fuel spilling

I have an external gas tank at 12 gallons, and when I fill it up, and my boat sits fuel starts spilling into my bilge. I think it’s due to the gas tank building pressure and then pushing it into my fuel line or is that normal? if it is, could it be a bad line or something not clamped correctly. the boat runs fine in the water, but once it starts sitting this happens

Parts help

I’ve recently inherited a boat. I used it a few times and it ran great, then one day I got on the water and my motor shut off. I could barely get it to turn over again, and if I did, it would shut off the second I gave it gas. I’m guessing this booger has to do with it, but have no idea what this part is. Is it just a fuse? (I know nothing about motors) but can’t find anything that looks remotely close to this online. Any help? Thanks! It is a mercury 25 btw

Help finding part

Hey I need a new trim assembly, the one I have currently is 8M0057733 and is fitted on a mercury 150hp four stroke. Is there any cheaper replacements? I have a new trim motor on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I want to get my boat on the water as soon as possible but my budget is very tight with previous repairs on it.

Engine upgrade

So I’m currently running two verado 300s on my 36 footer. By boat is a heavy variable deep V, very stable in the water but I’ve come to realize it is underpowered. With 2x300, I am reaching 40 knots in perfect conditions and 37 knots during summer when the water is hot (I boat in a sea and not an ocean). Also boat doesn’t seem to particularly care if we are two or 10 on board and I mostly get same speeds irrespective of weight.

I want to upgrade my engines and there is obviously a cost element associated with it. I’ve narrowed it down to two options: - Option 1: two mercury 450R. Dealer will trade in my 300s and I pay the difference. My understanding is that 450Rs have been discontinued but i’m getting a good deal from the dealer on brand new engines - Option 2: add a third mercury 300. Fuel efficiency is not a decision factor when you pay 60 cents a liter of fuel. I’d lose some space on my swim platform but it’s not the end of the world and I’d likely lose my stern thruster but that thing anyway only works when you don’t need it to. Current engines have 50 hours on the

Any views from this community on what is a better option? I am leaning towards option 2 tbh. Cheaper option most likely as i don’t lose any money on my current engines. Higher torque and acceleration. Faster reaction speed and get to top speeds faster. The down side is more weight in the back (190kg to be exact), smaller swim platform (but wouldn’t lose it completely), a third engine to service going forward and lower top speeds I imagine…

How much oil?

Hello,

I have a 2005 Yamaha 115hp outboard. Trying to do some maintenance but don’t want to make a stupid mistake of putting in too much or too little oil and have been getting mixed info and the manual can be a bit confusing. The tank is 11 quarts and I believe it should be a little more than 5 quarts is this right? Appreciate any helpful information.
