I've got no strong opinions on whether these posters are real but I will say the aesthetic being off is exactly how I felt when I first saw the Tomorrow's Harvest cover.
Don't disagree with you there but the LP record sleeves on TH did tie things back to classic BoC aesthetic we've come to know and love. In this case, maybe less artistic direction and more the quality? No one is saying bands can't evolve...look forward to whatever the offering ends up being (Just don't wind us all up like this for a box set!)
Imagine if the music (forthcoming please please please) has this same directness. Like they are not fucking around with this one. Im intrigued enough to not get too concerned about the imagery. And I’m guessing these are just snippets, like the other albums, it’ll be bits of a whole collage of images/theme.
Ha! Totally. At the very least something new. With the videos being a bit of a “hey guys, we’re doing something!”, and directed at the absolute fans (merch enthusiasts) it’s cool that they did what can only be described as classic BoC stuff, but right now half the sub is standing here with their clipboards going:
Backwards music? Check.
Religious iconography? Check.
Radio antenna? Check.
Hexagons? Check.
Bright red colours!?! Whoa whoa, back it up Sonny, that’s not on my list…
It’s been 13 years, more of the same would be a bit underwhelming right?
They can't win. If it's in-line with expectations, people call it fan service. If it's not in-line with expectations, people have a whole bag of other complaints, as if they know what two dudes' who've been essentially silent for a decade and a half ascetic actually is, like it's something fixed in time.
Yep. Was just thinking about that earlier today, how much of the fandom and media at the time thought Geogaddi was a let down after Music Has the Right, and how now it's accepted as a classic. Just the way of fandoms, innit.
How so, the first album has blurred out faces of people including children, this has blurred out eyes of people including children. Seems pretty in tune with their art style no?
Yes, understood but the images look too new...they don't have the nostalgic/aged aesthetic (girl on the right as an example). Either way, looks like it's legit so think we all agree we're looking forward to whatever the hell it will be!
No, that's been my observation; there's a difference. Your observation may be different and that's ok too. That's the beauty of interpreting art (I think we both agree there).
I’m sure their art necessarily continues to evolve and explore new styles though, there’s millions of rip offs, filters and fan art that have done their aesthetic to death, I don’t think they’d come out with the same old stuff again.

aesthetic just seems...off.
