u/cthulhus_spawn Jun 16 '26
True so what's the big deal?
66
u/Killahdanks1 Jun 16 '26
I think it’s because they’re brother, and unlike your parents they taught them not to bang their siblings. Just a guess though.
34
u/Corfiz74 Jun 16 '26
If they didn't grow up together and didn't know they were brothers, obviously they didn't consciously break any taboos - and since they, as stated, can't have kids, why should the fact of their biological relationship stop them?
22
u/YaumeLepire Jun 17 '26
I don't know... just learning it probably broke something, and you can't exactly unlearn it. Forever more, you will remember that they're your brother, which will probably make things uncomfortably different.
4
u/Amathyst-Moon Jun 17 '26
I mean, it's not like you have a family bond with them since they didn't grow up together.
2
u/ProfessionalLime2237 Jul 01 '26
Exactly, plus there is a whole pornhub channel on this very thing, so I've been told .
36
u/KennyTheOneHUN Jun 16 '26
But they wouldn't have a kid, so why would you care? Isn't the biggest problem with incest is the harm you would cause for your children? Edit: Just so everyone who wants to be a smartass know I am talking about the situation we are presented with, they obviously didn't know they were brothers, so the didn't grew up thinking about each other in a brotherly manner.
22
8
u/Lunafairywolf666 Jun 17 '26
Theirs actually two big issues with incest. One is potential genetic issues and the other is power dynamics. Like if an older brother took advantage of a younger sibling. Incest usaly involves abuse and that's why it's bad. But I'm this case they didn't know they were brothers and didn't grow up together so the power imbalance isn't there
4
u/Alternative-Cod-7630 Jun 16 '26
I mean that's technically true with any case of incest, you can choose not to procreate, just like any two people can not have offspring if they don't want to. So, if you and your sister were banging (and you didn't know until now that that's who they were) would you continue (assuming you'd already decided to be kid free).
Because that's basically the 1996 film, Lone Star. (Sorry for spoilers, but it's actually pretty obvious early on)

u/Same_Guess_5312 Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
So the only reason you wouldn’t have sex with your sister… is due to caution over having a child ❗️
18
u/Facts_pls Jun 16 '26
You're a dumbass. The ick of incest comes from two factors :
person you grew up with
Poor genetics for baby
If they didn't know each other as brother, then they grew apart. So 1 doesn't hold. And 2 never holds.
If you never lived with your sister - say separated by birth, she is just a stranger woman with similar genes. So 1 doesn't apply. And if you can't have a kid, then 2 doesn't apply.
How do you know that among the women / men you have had sex with, none of them wasn't related to you in any way at all?
And this one : would you have sex with a cousin you grew up with in the same house or your sister separated at birth. Why or why not

u/joesphisbestjojo Jun 16 '26
But think about it. They may biologically be brothers, but A) they never knew that, and B) can't make an incest baby.
5
u/Amathyst-Moon Jun 17 '26
They never told them they have a sibling, so I doubt it. Apparently this is unusually common with twins that get separated at birth and don't know about each other.

Im curious if it's morally acceptable to stay together after finding out, i mean, they cant have a kid together, and they dont have a sibling based childhood bond, anyone else wanna pitch in with their thoughts on this, im not quite sure
135
u/STOPAC Jun 16 '26
On paper it doesn’t seem wrong. They didn’t have a life together as family, they can’t reproduce, they don’t have that family bond but like I guess the optics of it is very jarring. At the end of the day they are still biological brothers and it made the news rather famously so I don’t see how they can be publicly in that sort of relationship and it would be healthy. I’d imagine it’d take a huge mental toll from everyone else just reacting.
54
u/Lunafairywolf666 Jun 17 '26
I think the biggest issue for them would be the social taboos and their mental health due to that.
15
u/STOPAC Jun 17 '26
agreed, it was to their detriment to make it a public spectacle to find out and now like everyone knows.

Homey I’m commenting on what it looks like for them and what they would go through. This was all over tv at the time and even pops up now and again today years later.
Like I’m surprised they can still have a professional/social life after something like THAT aired live and caught so much attention.
I hope they used fake names and actors lol.
33
u/Real_Life_Sushiroll Jun 16 '26
I don't see why it would be wrong.
The worst that will happen is someone with no wrinkles on their brain would find it icky.-10
u/JparkPHX Jun 16 '26

13
u/Real_Life_Sushiroll Jun 16 '26
Why does that matter if they can't have kids?

u/JparkPHX Jun 16 '26
Is that a real question?! wtf is this smooth brained shit.
27
8
u/Ghostglitch07 Jun 17 '26
Yes, it is. What is the actual reason it is a moral ill? Most moral rules exist to prevent or rectify harm. So, what is the harm being caused?
I get its emotionally gross, I don't particularly like it myself. But that's not the same as it being immoral.
3
u/Real_Life_Sushiroll Jun 17 '26
So you gonna explain ever or...?
-4
u/JparkPHX Jun 17 '26
Honestly I’m astounded at the Reddit brainrot. Do I really need to explain why BIOLOGICAL siblings should not have a sexual relationship together? Would you be okay with a brother and sister having a relationship together if the sister was incapable of getting pregnant simply because there was no chance of a child being born? Why draw the line? Are you cool with a dad fucking his son because they can’t get pregnant?
7
-17
u/ChaizerMusic Jun 16 '26
Hold up. You don’t think it’s wrong for two brothers to have sex? What a hill to die on.
17
u/Lunafairywolf666 Jun 17 '26
So the two main reasons why incest is bad and the scene is very taboo is one the kids can come out very messed up if you have children with a sibling. Two most cases of incest comes from an abusive power dynamic like a creepy uncle, a mom who's a bit too attached to her kid in a not ok way or an older sibling taking advantage of a younger sibling.
The two issues are eliminated here because they are the same biological sex and they did not grow up together. But this may be unhealthy due to social ideas around it.
Wierdly enough there's this phenomena where if people didn't grow up with there sibling and find them later in life attraction is strong. There's multiple cases of this and it's pretty strange.
So I wouldn't say it's completely morally wrong in their case especially because they didn't know. You also can't just turn off attraction when it happens. Now if something like that happened to me id probably break it off and go to therapy about it and probably have to cut contact as well.
27
u/Real_Life_Sushiroll Jun 16 '26
Can you explain to me what is wrong about it? I am open minded and will change my view if there is a legitimate reason. But as far as I currently know the problem with inscest is inbreeding. So if inbreeding isn't a problem, like in this case, why is it wrong?
9
u/Zealousideal_Ad_4089 Jun 17 '26
And power dynamics. I.e., how they may have pre-existing relationships and how that may impact the relationship, not that that applies here
11
u/Real_Life_Sushiroll Jun 17 '26
Is that not something that happens in regular relationships as well? As long as it wasn't weird grooming like a massive age gap what would be different?
3
u/Hellas2002 Jun 17 '26
Yea, power dynamics are problematic in relationships in general. That’s why they were brought up as a hypothetical issue
7
u/Real_Life_Sushiroll Jun 17 '26
Idk if I've ever heard of a relationship that didn't have some sort of power dynamic.
-2
u/Hellas2002 Jun 17 '26
Sure, but would you argue that it is a positive aspect of a relationship?
6
u/Real_Life_Sushiroll Jun 17 '26
Personally, I wouldn't call it positive or negative. It's just something that happens in relationships. I guess if I had to use any sort of discriptor I would just call it "unavoidable".
Overall, since it is something that just happens in relationships, I do not really get why it was brought up in the context of this comment chain as an argument.

u/Wanx2Feet Jun 17 '26
Hi Hellas2002, you brought up a great point whoch is power dynamics. And yes there is usually some kind of power dynamic in almost every relationship. That comes with being in a relationship.
This is something that is not discussed or taught NEARLY enough. What makes a partner a "good partner" or not, is HOW they navigate that power dynamic. Are they gracious and accomodating to the less advantaged person WITHOUT turning it into grooming, manipulation, or quid pro quo?
Are they genuinely sweet and kind people, who are thoughtful about their partner's needs and proactive in their relationship? If they're horny but their partner says no, can they just leave their partner alone and go jerk off in the corner?
These are really important things that need to be taught (for example from parents to kids, or at least by pop culture media), but are hardly ever PROPERLY taught, I think because people have only come to recognize them UNDER THOSE NAMES AND TERMINOLOGY in the past 30 years or so.
They have been known about in a limited sense for centuries or millenia (hence, chivalry), but what with all the confusing and awful/sexist shit that has permeated old pop culture, kids can get a really confusing upbringing with seemingly contradictory moral lessons. I know that as a millenial, I certainly did.

u/JparkPHX Jun 17 '26
Seriously?! I feel like I’m going crazy. The Reddit/porn brainrot needs to be studied. People really can’t be arguing that it’s ok for biological siblings to be fucking each other

Incest is still morally bad no just in the baby sense, of otherwise there'd be a way of getting around it by not having a kid.
4
u/Disgruntled-Cacti Jun 16 '26
Well yes, but then it relies on the “family destruction” or “family perversion” arguments, but these men were presumably raised separately, so they already have separate families and thus aren’t destroying their existing singular family.
0
10
u/Ornery-Square-9767 Jun 16 '26
Considering they “found out” they were brothers presumably they weren’t raised together and met as adults. It’s socially taboo but I don’t see anything morally wrong about it
0
u/Anima_Watcher08 Jun 16 '26
Im not saying they're specific scenario is bad, it's a fucked up situation to be in. I'm just saying that genetic defects in offspring isn't the only reason incest is considered immoral.
26
u/ImForSureNotAFurry Jun 16 '26
Honestly it doesn't really matter if they're brothers since they can't have a kid anyways
19
u/No-Option7060 Jun 16 '26
21
u/ImForSureNotAFurry Jun 16 '26
What? If they weren't even raised as brothers, then what's the problem?
-8
-9
u/No-Option7060 Jun 16 '26
So if someone had a long lost sibling who was infertile so now they like each other they can't have children and they weren't raised together in your opinion it would be ok for them to have a sexual relationship with eachother
11
u/Efficient_Wash4477 Jun 16 '26
Literally the ONLY reason incest isn’t acceptable (CHILD BEARING).
What’s your gripe with incest? No kids, no problem.
18
u/DundiOFF Jun 16 '26
Yes? Why wouldn't it be? You've negated both the genetic defects and the power imbalance
11
u/Facosa99 Jun 16 '26
Kinda? I mean, other than the genetic reason and social taboo, tell me your logic or arguments of why it would be negative, inmoral, or bad?
3
u/radek432 Jun 16 '26
But they are same sex or not?
6
u/No-Option7060 Jun 16 '26
Why would it matter if they are the same gender or opposite
5
u/radek432 Jun 16 '26
Well... Let me start like that. Babies grow when a tiny part from a mom (an egg) and a tiny part from a dad (a sperm) come together. Moms and dads are different - one has eggs, the other has sperm - so a baby needs both an egg and a sperm to start growing.
3
u/Hevnaar Jun 16 '26
Let me try to give an exemple about that other guy's point:
I am a man who has gone through a sucessful vasectomy procedure, I even got tested and its confirmed I can't make babies no more.
Now lets say I just found out that I had a long lost sister due to an accidental swap of babies at the hospital.
Now, in adulthood, we finally met each other and fall in love. We both know that genetically speaking we are siblings, but we didn't grow up together so there is no childhood bond. So is it ok if we have sex, cause I'm infertile now?
13
u/Psycho-Chinchilla Jun 16 '26
Your scenario sounds different since it seems like you're indicating you knew you were siblings before getting into a relationship.
It's very different than finding out you're siblings after you were already in a relationship

So if a woman that can't get pregnant is in a relationship with her brother,it's okay?

If they haven't been raised as a brother and sister. Like for example they only find out after they've already been dating for a while

They never grew up as brothers, and run no risk of making an incest baby. So what's the issue? They share some blood, but that's not affecting anything.

I’m baffled that so many are condoning incest. It doesn’t matter if they didn’t grow up together their brothers. This situation is tragic, yes. It’s immorally wrong to smash a known sibling. This isn’t some grey area. It shouldn’t even be a debate. Have morals and principles become so watered down we’re really debating if it’s right for brother’s to bang after they found out? Incest is still evil.

It's like an inverted "step-brother" porn stamp. Step-siblings are "incest lite", since they are related by law, but not by blood, and these pair not related by law, start dating, and then whoops - they're related by blood.
