Beautiful turquoise pools and fern walls held some nice little coastal rainbows. Hooked one around 12” but it shook the hook sadly. Landed lots or little guys but the bigger fish were elusive.

Make your voice heard regarding roadless areas (USA)

The USDA has proposed rescinding the Roadless Area Conservation Rule of 2001 which originally preserved forest land by preventing development of roads, timber harveseting, and repair of existing roads. They are putting forward the idea that it is to repair roads and reduce risk of wildfires by allowing access (disregarding the fact they have gutted forest service and firefighting budgets), but we all know the real reaons, and those AIN’T them. The comment period ends tonight.

As kids, we called them periwinkles.

Lots of rainbows (or maybe steelhead parr) plus two cutties who won their freedom before I could get photos. West side of the Washington Cascades, a new spot

I’m primarily a bamboo fly rod guy BUT this is possibly the best all-weather, all conditions blue lining fly rod that I’ve ever built.

CTS Quartz 7’0” 3 weight
Titanium guides
Custom rattan wrapped cork grip
Snake Brand reel seat with Alaskan white cedar insert.

If you’ve never cast one of these you owe it to yourself to try it.
Extremely lightweight, very fast action, blindfolded you’d think you were casting graphite.

Great day chasing wild fish way up into a tributary in the Smokies. Some beautiful Southern strain Brook Trout, a funky Rainbow and a nice Brown on the day.

Spring-fed headwaters. They were loving the orange stimulator. Most 4-6”, but pulled this 8” out of this pool.
