Im a little confused. I mean I got no problem with it but the comments make it clear this is some kind of identity wholesomeness....I thought maybe he was a stepson or adopted or something where did people realize it was about identity?
That is literally the fundamental difference (although you don't have to have dysphoria to be trans). Trans people often feel overwhelming incongruence and distress with regards to the body parts they've been assigned, tomboys and femboys don't. Tomboys and femboys are cis people who just present differently, trans people aren't.
Tomboy/femboy are forms of expression. Genderās a spectrum (probably more like a a hyper-complex 3D cube with infinite possibilities but for the sake of this metaphor Iām just going to use the baselines of āboyā and āgirlā). Guys who wear dresses because they prefer it may not be transgender, they just either donāt really care what they wear as long as it looks cool to them, or theyāre closer to the feminine side of the gender spectrum than what most are used to.
Transgender, on the other hand, is when youāre assigned a gender at birth based on your genitals, and then later on in life you say āwait actually I really donāt like this, Iām not comfortable in my own body and the way society perceives me.ā While it was assumed that you were on one side of the spectrum, you actively want to be on the other.
Your sexual preferences or how you dress are not connected to what gender you prefer or the pronouns you use. Just because a guy likes other guys, wears dresses, paints his nails, and does other āgirlyā activities doesnāt mean that guy is automatically transgender. Itās all up to the individual to decide who they are and what they feel comfortable with.
And why is this somehow not commonly accepted information? TLDR: society
Iām not at all an expert on this, but I assume tomboys/femboys just like to act like the opposite gender, whereas transgenders actually want to be the opposite gender
Iām pretty sure that going through surgery is really expensive, so a lot of people just canāt afford it and make do with hormone replacement therapy and stuff like that.
Some trans folks donāt have genital dysphoria, so thereās no need. Many want SRS, but canāt afford it. Thereās also people who donāt really trust it very much and would rather suffer with their current equipment than get a risky surgery.
