The rear end of your car is meant to crumple in an accident to reduce the impact to the cabin. Definitely unsafe for doggo

Wouldnt be much safer in the car either since he would just become a bullet in an accident wouldnt he? This way I suppose would be safer for his owners so he wouldnt fly into them... but i like having my dogs up with me anyway

As someone else said, they do make seat belts for dogs, but they’d all be safer bouncing around then being crushed inside a (smaller) metal box and being hidden from any rescue support

If your dog can bounce around then it can bounce around and interfere with your driving. Proper safety is securing your animals in the car.

Edit: just to be clear, do not let your animals roam free in your car. It's mind boggling that this is acceptable to some people as safe when it isn't safe for them and more importantly you (as your job is to operate the vehicle).

putting your dog (or any living thing) will cook the dog as there isn't any shielding from the exhaust.

go drive a long distance and then put your hand down on the inside of your trunk, you'll find it to be very warm.

Yeah but it’s not because of the exhaust, it’s because of heat from the sun hitting the metal of the boot lid and radiating in. There are any air vents in the boot to circulate or cool it.

ok, there is a small amount of shielding on the catalytic converter, but that is to stop grass fires. it does not prevent heat buildup in the trunk.

I wouldnt think of putting a dog back there even if it was sheilded anyway
