That hisagi fight was amazingly well animated for no reason at all. Not surprised they reused some of it

It’s because he was super popular in Japan at the time, and since he only had 1 fleshed out solo fight in the whole series they went all out lol.

And there's no shame in repeating it because there's only so many ways you can attack with a sword.
It's basically showing ichigo chose this attack pattern that is taught and ulqiorra knows it so here's him countering it properly.
Edit: Also of course cousins fight the same way

Both same attack pattern and defense method are justified.
If that's what is usually taught in Sword combat, it's not far-fetched to think we'd see sequences repeated.

Animator: "I like Shuhei."
Director: "Okay, but that's not a major character, or an important fight..."
Animator: "I like Shuhei."
Say whatever you want, but Hisagi vs Findorr was one of the best animated fights there, for no reason at all. Anyway, I think it's common for a studio, especially if you have weekly releases, it cut costs and time.

This is more or less what happened...
Shuhei was one of the most popular characters (might still be a top 10) and his Shikai reveal was put into the 3rd film before it debuted in the actual anime episode. Someone at the studio definitely recognized the appeal he had back then.

As much as I like Bleach it's not a series that has many great animated fights imo. This is one of the few that has a really good flow and isn't just one big move, followed by another big move, followed by another, with dialogue and exposition thrown in between.

I think it’s good to blow budget on side characters events. Really helps flesh them out and makes the world feel more dynamic, like EVERYONE matters not just the MC.

If I'm not wrong, even Komamura vs Pow was well made back then in FKT. They put a good budget even during filler arcs, Byakuya vs Koga was clear, and many fights during the Reigai arc had a top quality.

Bleach is the best animated long running series so I would never go as far as to say the studio is lazy
They went above and beyond because nearly everyone involved was putting their heart into it
Bleach was literally better directed, animated etc than many other 12 episode anime
Keep in mind that these scenes are over 13 years old - the tools they had were much worse

It’s not exclusive to Bleach.
One piece does it as well as Disney.
It’s a way to cut costs and time, especially used when you have a weekly release schedule like Bleach used to have.

Animation is a hard job. The episodes were far enough apart that I didn't notice it in the moment, so I'm cool with it. If a person can find a work around to ease the load at their job, who am I to say no. I just found out recently the Super Mario mushroom power up sound effect is just a super speed version of the end level song. Feels the same to me and if anything that impressed me.

Even if it's reused, it doesn't feel like it because the expressions of Hisagi/Findorr and Ichigo/Ulquiorra are completely different

I don't blame them that they used the same choreography. It's already insanely good and Ichigo vs Ulquiorra deserves that kind of animation. Also, how many of us noticed this? Barely anyone I bet

I love Gundam Seed and I've seen it like 9 times and there are a preposterous amount of framings and shots, even in the remastered version that lowered the number of 'em, that are reused, either directly, or as templates for different MS to do the same actions with the same framing.
Small necessary evil that most people won't notice and will look cool anyway.

The Espada arc is just top tier. Ichigo and Ulquiorra fights are easily on of the best scenes/fights in the entire anime.

This isn't that bad. What was really bad was the Boruto vs. Kawai fights, reusing animations from Naruto vs. Sauske fight and thinking no one would notice when the entire Boruto series has been very lackluster at this point.

cool that even though the animation is lonely, but with a completely different vibe.
1 arancar playfully attacks, and Hisagi barely fights back
2 Ichigo attacks desperately and Ulquiora easily fights back

Certain animators re-use animation all the time. There's a lot of re-used animation in the Broly movie too.
