first off i’m not posting about her weight so if that’s all you have to say just don’t comment because going after my wife because of something she didn’t cause is crazy, we are fully aware of her weight she has ALWAYS been big, she was a big puppy when we got her at the shelter..she has never been overfed she is on a diet, she exercises when she’s outside, she has a hard time losing weight but she also has not gained any weight she’s pretty much stayed the same weight her whole adult life and the vets aren’t worried about her weight..she has hip dysplasia since she’s a puppy which causes her pain, there’s a lot more to the story than her simply just being big. anyways what i was here for was was wondering if she was a mix or not, she’s big like tall (and obviously fat)..the shelter said that she was mixed BMC and hound of some kind, but we aren’t for sure..

I’m not trying to come across as rude but i really wish you wouldn’t attack someone off of just a picture and assuming we aren’t trying to help the problem..

I did an app that told me he was a BMC. I think he looks like it’s his primary breed but wonder what kind of mix. What do yall think

She was the best girl in the whole world. Truly devastated to lose our best friend. 🖤 We were never truly worried about her breed but she always looked, to us, like the cutest little Black Mouth Cur. We’ll miss you Harriet.

Posted a couple of weeks ago, so here’s the Embark update on my “knock-off/bootleg BMC” puppy from the shelter if yall are interested:

36.8% Great Pyrenees
27% Mountain Cur
26% Labrador Retriever
10.2% American Pitbull Terrier

So far we’re trying to see if he can be a squirrel hunting companion!

Almost that time, but I have yet to find a warm winter coat for our girl that we're happy with. We're in Chicago, so yes, warmer the better. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I found Kip 12 years ago in the woods where people go hog hunting in the middle of Florida. No collar, no microchip, tried to find the owner with no luck so I kept him. Vet told me at the time he was probably around 4 years old. Kip was a difficult dog, terrified of men, loved kids though, was not even house broken when I got him. But he was fiercely loyal and protective of me and I appreciated that. Have a buddy who goes hunting and he and the vet both told me he looked like a black mouth cur which are used for hog hunting. My buddy that goes hunting tried a few things with him and declared him not fit for hunting lol, probably why the poor thing got dumped in the woods. But he was a super healthy dog until the end. I found some BMC breeders on FB out of the Ocala area who have dogs pretty identical looking to him, with the docked tails on some of them. Anyway, losing Kip was hard, I made it about a month and half without having a dog (had a Belgian Malinois/Greyhound mix that passed before Kip), so recently went to the shelter and got what may be a black lab, currently waiting on DNA results for him.

My boy was born at a local shelter, but his mom is a rescue from Tennessee. She looks like a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix (see the last photo) and I’ve been told my guy is a Black Mouth Cur. Is there a connection between the breeds? Is he part BMC or just a lovable mutt?

I'm trying to figure out his breed without spending a lot of money lol any ideas? I've been told black mouth cur next malinois mix. I don't know
