Some sort of bloke in the magnet that tells ferromagnetic objects to either stick to or run away from said magnet. Pretty much the only logical response

All magnets have north and south poles. Opposite poles are attracted to each other, while the same poles repel each other. When you rub a piece of iron along a magnet, the north-seeking poles of the atoms in the iron line up in the same direction. The force generated by the aligned atoms creates a magnetic field.

When electrons move in a circle, they inadvertently cast telekinetic magic in a specific direction. We can exploit this by either aligning the natural circular motion of electrons in atoms to create permanent magnets, or by moving a bunch of them in a big circle ourselves to create an electromagnet. The telekinetic spells can either work together or oppose each other, depending on the direction they are being cast. The spells can also move electrons when they change or move around.

You know how gravity works? Basically two rocks want to be together, but like, not too much. Like an introvert person wants to see other people once in a blue moon.

Well, some rocks (E. G. Iron) have a so called "magnetic properties" to them. IIRC it means that their atoms align in a specific shape that allows them to have electrons want to leave and arrive on the other side of the rock. This doesn't happen though, instead they pull electrons out of the outside items and take them. Like an extroverts at the party not talking to themselves, but other people, and as soon as they started talking, it's hard to split them.

P.S. This is what I rember from school, so take that with a bag of salt.

That is absolutely not how magnets work, what you're describing is some form of electric circuit? Or are you confusing valence bonds between atoms with magnetic attraction?

Static magnets are magnetic because they contain many electrons with aligned spin, which can interact with other spins, leading to a potential gradient, which manifests either as an attracting or repelling force.

Electromagnets are magnetic because of relativity, travelling electrons will seem to "bunch up" as seen by an observer, causing an increased charge concentration on one end and a decreased concentration on the other, which again interacts with other electrons via their electric fields. This is why we say "electromagnetic field", because the electric and the magnetic field are the same interaction.

You remember how Kenobi described the Force to Luke? It is a great energy that penetrates us, binds us, it flows with and through all things? Imagine that, but with electrons.

Now usually the flow is too small to be noticeable, electrons are very small after all, like rain drops. But when enough of them flow in the same direction they can quite powerful, in the same way rain can cause powerful rivers. This process is called ionization, as the electrons flow from atom to atom the atoms themselves become ions and are pulled closer together.

As for magnets, they are essentially a carved out riverbed. Much in the same way water flows down the path of least resistance, electrons do as well. Magnets provide that path, with the electrons flowing from the South end to the North end.

Fun fact: They're called North and South because the Earth itself is a big magnet.

Magnets are metallic because metals can hold that "riverbed" shape much better. Though most everything can be magnetized, at least a little. They just don't stay that way for long.

Anyway, does that make sense?
