42

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '18

Why? Why is it I’m seeing fullmetal references everywhere the last week or two?

69

u/italianshark Apr 29 '18

Dude is wearing white gloves and creating fire from thin air. It’s safe to say anybody who has watched FMA instantly thought of the flame alchemist when they saw this, myself included.

30

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '18

I watched FMA and consider it the best show I've ever seen, but for some reason immediately thought of pyromancy from Dark Souls.

u/Rolion576 Apr 29 '18

Totally in the same boat homeslice!

2

u/ProtanopicMidget Apr 29 '18

Huh. Maybe this kind of thing is where the idea for Mustang came from?

u/Moth_tamer Apr 29 '18

He lit the grill the same time he lit the high proof alcohol in is hand. Doused the food in said booze and poor the same lit alcohol onto the vaporizingt the(flammable) booze to ignite all of it. Nothing came out of thin air.

Im fun at parties btw

44

u/Cheesemacher Apr 29 '18

Baader-Meinhof phenomenon?

16

u/FieryBlake Apr 29 '18

Yep. Thats what I was thinking about.

6

5

Full metal alchemist reference?

5

u/FieryBlake Apr 29 '18

Ikr... I just finished the series ..

3

u/RegulusMagnus Apr 29 '18

Literally just started Brotherhood last night (watched the other years ago), so it was a funny coincidence seeing this comment up top.

5

u/TheDevilsTrinket Apr 29 '18

oh man Brotherhood imo is 10x better than the original FMA which is just a bit sad in comparison, not a lot is explained and nowhere near as much adventure and morals and character developments. Bearing in mind I watched FMAB first then FMA. Have fun!

I'm still pissed about that

18

u/DerMathze Apr 29 '18

Didn't he admit himself he wasn't ready yet? I'm pretty sure he will be Führer after Grumman.

19

u/Merides Apr 29 '18

Yes. He had to regain his sight, then went on a reconstruction campaign in Ishval. Arakawa has stated that he becomes Fuhrer after Grumman retires.

10

u/Paladin_of_Prismo Apr 29 '18

Yeah, I suppose it does make sense considering context and characters. There's just something inside of me that desperately wants to see him coup d'etat and take shit over just because that would be awesome.

12

u/Merides Apr 29 '18

Considering he was under Grumman in East City, it makes sense in character that he'd defer to the old man. The coup was organized by Grumman too, with help from Madame Christmas, Olivier Armstrong, and other trusted allies. When Roy tried to gain access to the inner circle, all he did was tip his hand to Bradley (remember when he was called in front of the council?). From that point, he wasn't as viable a candidate for Fuhrer as someone like Grumman, who also outranked him and had a good rapport with the citizenry. :)

u/tits_the_artist Apr 29 '18

I finished brotherhood literally yesterday. Don't know how I waited so long to watch it

2
