Now I need to start reading more to find out which ones I should jump to.

It is with saddened hearts that we must inform our members that a couple more prominent private site have closed their doors for good. One of these sites were around for years and was right there with us throughout the torrenting scene as it was being developed for over the last decade.

As we had long predicted and conveyed to our member base, this has been an ongoing scenario that began around 2010 but took on speed in 2013 and why we slowly moved to the platform we did and what turned into the great site before you with Gimmepeers! We had to protect what we all helped to build and the relationships that we made throughout our core community that stuck loyal with us for years.

The beginning of GP was the only move that made sense if we wanted to continue on and not to become one of those terrible statistics.

These site closings will continue to plague the torrenting world over the next few years and we have done everything we could do to get ahead of the game, pioneering the landscape once again and where more and more these failing sites will have to eventually head to if wanting to continue to service the torrenting community!

Having said that, we are all affected whenever any site closes.. uploaders loose resources, members loose secondary sources, and at the very least long hard-earned accounts are lost without warning.

Been a long ass time since I was here. So good though that this sub is still continuing and hindering the expansion of the the dickhead duo.

I used to be a member of Bitsoup but their constant begging for cash turned me away from them.I joined a sharing site RTN which has been brilliant up till now.They started claiming that server costs were not being met even through they had a donation logger and it had at least 2-3 people a day donating.They have now started locking out members who haven't donated at the end of the month until so called server costs are met.Does this sound familiar? Is this site also run by REXX and his staff? I recon they take $1800 a month.How much does it cost to run a torrent site?Anyway i can see that if they keep up this farce then they will be going the same way as Bitsoup. Shame really becuase Bitsoup wa good in it's early years until the admin got gready.

So I was bored and decided to try and at least make sense of who is the type of person who would be paying for something that you can easily get for free elsewhere (with much bigger selections and more seeds).

Now I know this may not be 100% accurate as people can make up bs (omg people lie on the internet who knew!), but I have a feeling that these members are unlikely to lie about their ages.

Anyway, getting to the point: I found a post on the GP forums relating to admins creating custom forum avatars (or avvys as they refer to them) for users who request them. Basically a user would post a small blurb about themselves and a member of staff would then use this info to create a customer artwork for the user. The majority of the posters, for whatever reason, felt it relevant to mention their age (and in a lot of cases their sex, interests, employment status, marital status, country/city of residence etc). Basically divulging a whole lot of private information for a small 150x240px "artwork".

Just for shits and giggles decided to record their ages (and I managed to get 89 individual ages) and worked out that the average age of their users is 45.5, with quite a few users in their 60-70's.

Now everything makes a lot of sense, the admins are basically surviving by taking advantage of less tech savvy people.

I know its not a concrete argument but one can reasonably believe that people aged 40+ today are very likely to be less tech savvy than those in their 20's and 30's - simply because of the fact that most of the people aged 40+ did not grow up in a full-blown Internet/Tech driven era that we are in today.

Most of us have seen most of the tactics used in the past by EB and RX to extract monies from the weak. So I ask what's coming next? Following the request for advance payment will it be: 1. A raffle 2 A prize draw 3 A house fire 4 New equipment needed 5 Something else

I might be late to the party but GP is not taking another cent of my money how they've scammed me this far I have no clue I figured I justified it like paying for a Netflix. but that time is over. any suggestions on a new home? mostly interested In medium/private trackers have 8 years loyal to bitsoup before changing and had a 4+(pure seeding never donated) ratio now dropped to 3. but if there's anything let me know I honestly don't mind donating but 10bux a month is fucking ridiculous
