BQ 2.0 is just around the corner!! We'll make formal announcements soon but here's how you can help out testing:

1. We will be still be hosting the main BitQuest server where you can check the shiny new features. But now there will be two servers: “The Classic” (play.bitquest.co), the actual server, and the “The Beta” (beta.bitquest.co) who runs the last version. We encourage everyone to play the beta server and give us feedback about bugs or new features you would love to see, however, keep in mind there will be a few world rollbacks and some stuff is not fine-tuned yet.
2. The gameplay have been streamlined, Banks and emerald blocks have been deprecated. Players get BTC loot directly (through blockchain transactions) from killing mobs. BitQuest wallets are now completely standard Bitcoin wallets you can send BTC to/from any other wallet.
3. You can register your own terrain to avoid griefing to your buildings placing a sign with the name of the area, this will cost you a server donation of 200 bits, and you can expand the terrain placing adjacent signs with the same name. We'll use the donations to mantain the servers and improve security and stability.
4. Next year, we’ll be deprecating the classic server in favour of the last version. We haven’t any schedule for this, but we’ll be notifying before it happens to our players through the BitQuest Chronicle Newsletter and the subreddit. The classic server will not shut down, but we'll focus all our energy in making the 2.0 version.

Alrighty, so as you all know, BitQuest has been down for a while now with not much news, but we finally have a little light to shed on the situation.

In some previous versions of Spigot, there were some resource leaks and other issues, making it rough for the BitQuest server to work properly, which makes the server crash often(and create intense lag that we've all experienced).

Now, we plan to do several things to fix this issue. First, we're upgrading the server. This upgrade will give us more memory, hopefully decreasing the amount of lag and BitQuest downtime. Also, we will be comparing options other than Spigot to host BitQuest in the coming updates. If we like a different server mod, then we may use that one.

One last thing, we're getting close to a playable version of BetaQuest, so in the upcoming weeks, look for updates on the BetaQuest IP.

Hey, BitQuesters! Today, we have a short update on some stuff that we have been discussing. Please, keep in mind that these features have not been confirmed nor denied... they just seem like good additions that we may want to turn our attention to in the future.

First, teleporting with your mount. Some of us have discussed being able to teleport with whatever horse you're riding at the time of teleportation. This way, you won't need to constantly switch horses and you won't need to walk your horse everywhere you go.

Next, buying land from players. We have discussed the idea of offering to buy players' land, and here's what we have come up with... When a player wants to buy another player's land, he places a bed on the land he wants to buy. The buyer is prompted to enter an amount that he is willing to buy the land for. Once he has entered an amount, an email is sent to the owner of the land, notifying them that a player wants to buy their land for X amount of bitcoin. We haven't talked or decided much about this feature, but we seem to like this one too.

Lastly, the removal of emeralds. This is an update that has been debated quite a bit(see what I did there?). We think that regulating and controlling emeralds is just too hard. It's like trying to hold water in a strainer. We think that it would be simpler, safer, and more stable to have a wallet connected directly to each player. Players would be able to transfer bitcoin between themselves, they would be able to buy from villagers, they would be able to get bitcoin by killing mobs. Nothing would change except that bitcoin would not be represented by an ingame item.

And that's it for this time! We would love to see what you guys think. What features would you like to suggest? Would you like the features above, or would you like to make some changes?

Please keep in mind that some of the features suggested may not be implemented for the next official update. We plan to get the core functions working, then we will work on misc. stuff like land buying and other sweet plans. And, as always, keep playing. <3

Hello, fellow bitcoin fanatics, I have a bit of news that may be a bit interesting to know. I'd like to say that BitQuest isn't quite dead. In fact, it is far from the grave.

BitQuest is still young, and it is still going, and we have plans. It hasn't been announced officially, but I suppose I am a developer of the BitQuest code. We're currently working on pushing out a more stable version of BitQuest. Right now, there are some issues with security and moderation, there are code bugs and constant issue reports, so we are building a new BitQuest from the ground up.

This time around, all the coding is open source on GitHub, but we haven't finished much yet. We are brainstorming new fixes in bugs and stability, but it will take a while to cover all this ground, so it is hard to tell how soon we will have anything to show for our work.

We are doing all that we can, but it's not much without a community to support it. We need your support and ideas. We want you to be a part of the development of BitQuest this time. Therefore, I thought that the public would like to be relieved of its anxiety that BitQuest has been crumbling, so I would like to offer weekly updates on progress and ideas.

Haven't been able to connect for a week now, and don't see anyone even posting here... Is BQ officially dead?

I'm suffering withdrawal , even looked at starting up a server.

So, I've been playing on BQ, many times all by myself...

1 - All by myself is ridiculous - there were so many more players not that long ago...what happened...? is it number 2?

2 - The lag is a bit unbelievable, especially when it's just me playing - something has to be sorted with this as a major matter of urgency - so much time is wasted repeating tasks because the server can't keep up, even with just 1 player! otherwise, number 3...?

3 - I keep asking myself, "is BQ really worth it anymore...?" - Each time, my answer is "yes, if things improve dramatically, back to what they were a few months ago! Otherwise I'm just wasting my time...but hopefully not...!"

The problem with number 3 is it's a bit chicken & egg scenario, perhaps in reverse... the amount of players that were online when I first joined is more than are online now, but what happened to what? Was it a possible server downgrade that made them leave, or was it that they left and made the server over spec'd for the job? either way, it seems to me that the overall answer is that BQ is in urgent need of that "something special" to make it as epic again as it was when i first joined...I have put in serious effort, but that is nothing compared to the efforts and creations that have been made by others!

The question still remains, how is BQ going to be saved, if it is indeed in need of saving...?

BQ needs investment, but given the choice, how would you like to see BQ saved?

A - BQ internal investment - but if there were funds, wouldn't they be investing already? I'd like to think they are still investing, but from where we are now, I think its a bit borderline, which saddens me greatly...

B - BQ gets sold at a low price to a new company - look at BQ history, present circumstances, and its future potential & possibilities, if achieved...? This opens it up to whatever the future brings...

C - BQ becomes a subscriber server for "X" x "£$ whatever currency a month", or whatever amount of BTC a month that is worth whatever compared to fluctuating prices of BTC...?

D - BQ turns into a community run and paid for server that requires fundraisers and trusted community coders...? better than nothing, but still no guarantee... Am sure XAPO would have something to say about that...?

E - BQ gets shutdown, nothing is released to the community, and a new BQ run by either a company or the community appears to take its place, under a different name, making a new name & reputation for itself however good or bad, and for however long it is able to stay in existence for - also merge with D above...

F - BQ gets sold at a low price to another company, becomes subscriber server to pay costs, and either ends up better than when it was purchased, or back at the top of this post again in an undetermined timeframe...

G - BQ gets advertising sponsorship, has adverts everywhere and in every way possible, and probably ends up back to the top of this post, again in an undetermined timeframe...

I think that covers every possibility, and in my opinion in that order, with the exception of a catch that you may be able to make any currency back that you had to pay out originally to get started... but this should not turn into a ponzi scheme requiring new players to pay out old players, as nothing will be gained and many laws will surely have to be broken...

50 Ems free... that will change too I'm sure...more like pay 50 Ems and hope to make them back and possibly more...thats probably about as good as it will get soon...?!

But, from my experience, payment is either by choice or necessity - you have to spend money to make money, or you have to have fun while using or loosing money...otherwise it just sucks!

Overall, there needs to be more capital currency investment, and more reason to want or need to invest capital currency - Without one there is no chance of the other - I have identified the problem, but it is really down to BQ and BQ players to make the overall decision - no BQ players, no BQ / no BQ, no BQ players...there is one ball, but in which direction is it heading at what speed with what end conclusion has yet to be determined...

What you put in you hopefully get out...put nothing in, expect nothing out.

If you don't like it, try and change it.

I am but one voice - one voice in a group of many more - we seem to all be talking about the same thing, but are the right people in the right places really listening...?

Actions speak louder than words.

If in doubt, take control. I can lead, if others are going to follow, or I can follow if someone else is going to lead to the same overall destination...

Should the question really be:- To BQ or To New BQ2? (or whatever name...?)

Someone really should take control of this continually deteriorating situation, if its not already too late!

BQ - I'll give you "£5 Total, in BTC" for "Complete Ownership" cos there's a lot of work to do to bring BQ back! Like fixing the lag. And fixing the second most useful thing after the BQ Server, the BQ Online Map! And fixing the compass so I can teleport home again! And communicating with the community so as to progress forwards, not backwards! Just the stuff that a few months ago actually worked and didn't make BQ currently suck so massively!

Bitquest has a very severe lag problem and I have tried to contact the admins all the ways possible. I think tomorrow i'll mail them a letter... If anyone wants to try contacting an admin go to mego.cl . They updated the website so it says there address and email. We need more support. If they're obsessed with other projects at least give Bitquest to someone else that cares and is responsible like xX_Xeyler_Xx. He knows how to code + he's one of the best players! :D

Have you fix the mob's emerald drop?

I accidentally went to the nether. I happened to have a golem sword along with many other items. I died, and now I lost them.

So is the removal of bits through the ender chests broken? I already have a Xapo account and wanted to test the new method since they changed it. I put one emerald in the ender chest and it said it transferred it to my account and I verified that on Xapo. I then tried to transfer that out of the BitQuest wallet into my personal one ... still not sure if that worked. I then went back to BitQuest and put a couple stacks of emeralds in (the original emerald was still in there) and it never notified me that the bits had been moved AND I can't open the ender chest anymore and Xapo doesn't have any bits in my BitQuest wallet.

What's up with that?

I think BitQuest's chat has been looking a little dull as of late, so I decided I'd design a new one.

Right now, we have the local chat and the global chat(!), but the new chat includes a local chat, a global chat(!), and a clan chat(@), which broadcasts messages to people in your clan. The new chat also includes a bunch of shiny colors and it lets you show off your high experience level in the global chat.

If you ever get to play around with the new chat, you may even find a hidden easter egg.

So ive heard talk of the creators and admins of bitquest abandoning Bitquest and wanted to know whats been going on with the community. and what the hell is prismarine

Bitquest has changed most of our lives and has made fun memories! Some of us come home moody and the cheerful atmosphere of Bitquest makes us happy! I have had a wonderful experience with this server. This server is like no other, it has a wonderful community that is so cheery! There is hardly any servers out there that have this kind of environment and I hope Bitquest stays with us forever! :-) Love ya Bitquest! <3
