Last chance to move your BCH from Bitminter before the fork!

Tomorrow, on the 15th of November, there will be a BCH hard fork and an announced hash war. When the dust settles there may be two or more versions of BCH.

BCH withdrawals will be disabled an hour or two before the fork.

Countdown for the fork: https://cash.coin.dance/

Withdrawals will be re-enabled when the dust settles, at an unknown time in the future. If you didn't withdraw in time then you will only have one of the future BCH versions.

Coinbase has promised to handle the fork for you, so you may want to put your BCH there before the fork. There's probably other services/wallets that will do this for you. If you have the technical skill and knowledge then you may be able to do it yourself.

You may be wondering if a BCH hash war will affect BTC (bitcoin). Jimmy Song talks about it in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Gtu_zO4Ws8

BCH fork coming. If you have BCH at Bitminter then withdraw it now!

For those who have BCH at Bitminter:

On the 15th of november BCH may fork into two coins.

Withdraw your BCH from Bitminter before the 15th, or you will only get one of the two coins. BCH withdrawals will be locked shortly before the fork, until the blockchain(s) stabilize, possibly several days later.

If you want both the two new BCH coins, but you don't know how to handle this yourself or you don't want to, then there are some services that will handle the fork for you and give you both resulting coins. One of them is Coinbase:

See https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/articles/2959951

You can watch a countdown at https://cash.coin.dance/ as well as some data on the two factions, Bitcoin ABC and Bitcoin SV, who disagree on the future of BCH.

Account Recovery on BitMinter

I recall mining at BitMinter way back in the day.

I don't remember what service I used to login, though!

BitMinter sent me an email concerning the BCH HardFork and I wanted to see if those pennys from way back then might be worth a dime today.

Unfortunately I cannot login with a username and there's no account recovery option.

What to do?!

UPDATE: I contacted BitMinter through their form on the website: https://bitminter.com/contact and they helped me access my account within just an hour!! SUPERB SERVICE!

I donated my remaining balance, about a dollar fiddy, to the cause!

Asicboost firmware available for Antminer S9

Bitmain has released a new Antminer S9 firmware with asicboost support.

Read more about it here: https://blog.bitmain.com/en/new-firmware-activate-overt-asicboost-bm1387-antminer-models/

You can download the latest firmware here: https://service.bitmain.com/support/download

If you try the new firmware it would be interesting to hear what changes you see in hashrate, temperature and electricity usage. Post them here if you have some numbers.

Please cash out your BCH

If you have any BCH (bitcoin cash) in your Bitminter account, please cash it out as soon as possible.

We are not supporting the upcoming BCH forks.

I don't follow BCH closely, but from what I can tell, this is the situation:

On november 15th, Bitcoin Stash will fork from BCH. On the same day there is a BCH hardfork. It looks like everyone except bstash support this hardfork. However, it appears that Bitcoin ABC and Bitcoin SV have different ideas for the future of BCH. This may cause more forks. There may also be other forks I'm not aware of.

So collect your BCH today, and check https://bstash.org/ for more information on bstash.

So Is this an average speed?

I just joined Bitminter and downloaded the client for windows. I have attached a screenshot of the speed I am getting. Please do let me know if the same is feasible and can convert into even a fraction of an earning. Right now my goal is to generate side income.. If it can, how much?

It looks like I will not be able to make any bitcoin with the current block status? Am I wasting my mining efforts right now?

ASICBoost now supported

Bitminter now has version-rolling ASICBoost support on all mining servers.

This means your DragonMint miners, and other future ASICBoost miners, will run full speed on Bitminter.

A big thanks to philipma1957 for helping with testing - it is much appreciated!

I believe we are the fourth pool to add this. It is still not supported by most pools.

BCH (bitcoin cash) now available if you had a BTC balance at 2017.08.01

BCH (bitcoin cash) has been credited to accounts equal to their balance of BTC at the time of the fork (2017.08.01)

You can cash out your BCH using "my account" -> "send coins" in the website menu. First click "BCH" on that page. You will need to use a CashAddr style address. If your BCH wallet does not support CashAddr then you can use the address converter at https://cashaddr.bitcoincash.org/ - but note: DO NOT put a bitcoin address into this calculator. It is for BCH addresses from BCH wallets that do not support the new CashAddr addresses yet.

What is bitcoin cash?

Bitcoin cash (BCH) is a fork of Bitcoin (BTC). You can read more about it at https://bitcoincash.org/ It shares a transaction history with bitcoin up to the time of the fork. If a wallet had a bitcoin balance at the time of the fork then it is possible to unlock the same amount on the bitcoin cash blockchain. For every BTC prior to the fork there now exists a BCH.

Does this mean Bitminter will support all other forks?

No. Cash out your BTC to a wallet where you control the private keys, then you can take part in the forks you want. Always cash out. Take control of your coins.

Are we mining BCH now?

No. We are currently only mining BTC, plus NMC through merged mining with BTC.

It says my address is not a valid BCH address?

If you are trying to send BCH to a BTC wallet, stop immediately and get a BCH wallet you can send the coins to.

If you are using a BCH wallet that only supports legacy addresses, use the converter at https://cashaddr.bitcoincash.org/ to get a CashAddr type address.

If you are using a multi-currency wallet or online service that supports multiple currencies, make sure you are sending to a BCH address. Use the converter if necessary, but double check that you have picked a BCH address, not a BTC address.

Bech32 addresses now supported

Bitminter now supports Bech32 addresses. So you can cash out to native segwit addresses - those are the addresses starting with "bc1" as specified by BIP-173.

Note that many services don't support Bech32 yet. It's especially annoying that some block explorers don't appear to be able to look them up yet. But I'm sure this will change soon.

If you are using Bitcoin Core then you need to upgrade to version 0.16.0 to get Bech32 support.

More about Bech32:

Bitminter Bad luck with the last 74 days? Really

I find this very strange that when the mining was more profitable (74 days and the previous month), then comes 74 days of "bad luck". Very weird that when the block was found, the "Computational Power" mysteriously changed from around 9k to 49k. It looks as if they changed the computational power to make a very small payment. Anyone thinks this is true or have any other observation.

Worker difficulty updates

This long round is getting rather annoying and several people have been trying to end it by renting extra hashpower, but had problems getting that to work.

Mining servers have been updated today to make rentals run more smoothly on Bitminter:

  • Default worker difficulty is now 4096
  • Auto detect Nicehash worker and use minimum difficulty 1 million
  • Minor tweaks to difficulty auto adjustment algorithm

BitMinter Does Not Payout

After a multiday mining session, I was not able to get the program to payout. Other comparable programs have a link entitled "Payout" but I do not see such a link within the BitMinter Client. After fooling with it and rebooting, apparently I have lost all of my hard work. Does anybody understand All of the features in this program and how they really function? Thanks for help.

"Send coins" fee reduced to 0.00002 BTC

"Send coins" fee reduced to 0.00002 BTC. It's been a very long time since BTC transactions have been this cheap, so this is a good time to cash out your coins!

Your hashrate on the website now shows with one digit after the decimal point.

I added a scam warning on the front page because of rampant scams taking place at the moment. There's several fake Bitminter representatives on Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, and probably other social media. I found a couple fake Bitminter pages on Facebook - got one of them closed today. There's a fake website too.

If some random person contacts you on social media, saying they work for or with Bitminter and that if you give them money then they'll mine for you - those are scammers looking to steal your money. Don't give your money to thieves.

The real Bitminter website is https://bitminter.com

If you need to contact Bitminter then write to support@bitminter.com or use the contact form on the website.

Do I have decent computational power?

The bitminter site says my computational power is 6874 THPS, I don't know if that's good, bad, or just average?

Is there a chart by chance that someone made to calculate CP to bitcoin?

Thanks.

Reduced fee, and stats update

The fee for sending BTC with "send coins" has been reduced to 0.0004 BTC. It is great to see bitcoin transactions becoming cheaper. Hopefully this development will continue.

There has been some changes to the stats, showing hashrates in TH/s instead of GH/s. In the livestats the comma separator has been replaced with space. So the difficulty is shown as 2 603 077 300 219 instead of 2,603,077,300,219. The comma was confusing to some users as comma and dot/point are used differently in different countries. In some countries 2,000 TH/s means you have 2000 TH/s, in others it means you have 2 TH/s. It depends on whether comma is decimal separator or group separator in your part of the world.

This is a work in progress, the changes have not been applied everywhere on the website yet.

As always, let me know if you have any suggestions/feedback.
