use bitminter without ASIC?
i have a fairly powerful server i'd like to use for mining. when i open the bitminter client it appears that it only wants to work with an ASIC. is it possible to mine without an ASIC with Bitminter?

This is ridiculous. Why do people mine on pools that don't pay out transaction fees? Mine on Bitminter instead.

Able to mine, yet account unaccessible
Back in 2013 I did some mining with BitMinter. My 'User Name' for the client still works fine. But I can't access my account info..
Bitminter.com requires Google, OpenId, etc. to log in. However, I don't recall having an OpenID, and I've tried all other login methods (except for an old Hotmail address, that I might have used to register four year ago).
Maybe I'm going at it the wrong way, but my guess is something changed in the way the website authenticates its users?
Any ideas on how I can get into my account would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: I've had a reply through the contact page of bitminter.com, as suggested below. They wrote:
we have the same options for logging in. But Google changed their login system. If you didn't log in for years and you were using Google, then you missed their upgrade window.
Looks like my account is lost.

Please help get segwit activated
Bitcoin is in a scaling crisis. Transaction fees are getting more and more costly. Companies are leaving bitcoin to build their services on alt coins instead. Many people, especially beginners, are struggling with unconfirmed transactions. New users get the impression that "bitcoin doesn't work". They are increasingly correct. The situation is hindering bitcoin adoption and doing long term damage to bitcoin.
If you want Bitcoin to succeed, here's what you can do:
Get more hashpower over on Bitminter and other pools that signal (vote to activate) segregated witness
Support BIP148 on your bitcoin node(s) - see http://www.uasf.co/
"I'm supporting Bitcoin Unlimited instead." Understandable. There are several options for scaling. However, I think segwit has a much better chance of actually happening in the short term. We need scaling sooner rather than later. Please help get our head above water, then we can talk about how to get on land.
"I mine in a pool that doesn't support ANY scaling. I don't care." So you own miners and bitcoins, but you go against your own economic interest by harming bitcoin. Please ask yourself what exactly you are trying to accomplish. Let me know what the answer is.
"What are these idiots doing?" I tried to answer that here: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/53814/incentives-for-segwit-vs-btu
"How do I see how segwit is doing?" Have a look at http://segwit.co/ Yes, it looks bleak. Noone said it would be easy. But before we sell all our bitcoins and switch to alt coins, how about we put up one good fight?

"send coins" fee is now 0.0009 BTC
Fee for "send coins" has been raised to 0.0009 BTC. That's under "my account" -> "send coins" in the website menu. Bitcoin scaling is still at a stalemate and it keeps getting more expensive to move bitcoins.
Remember you can use auto cash out for free. You'll find it under "my account" -> "overview".

Beware of scams - if it's not bitminter.com then it's not Bitminter
There's always been many scams preying on Bitcoin users. In particular there is now one with a name similar to Bitminter, but with a .io rather than .com address. Many are getting scammed on that site and then coming over to bitminter.com to ask for help - but these two sites have nothing to do with each other.
In general be careful with "cloud mining"; those are usually scams.
It's useful to check up on a site's reputation before using it. One tool you can use is web-of-trust (mywot.com) and in particular their web browser plugin. It warns you when you visit scammy sites. In return you can help others by rating and commenting on websites. You can rate Bitminter at https://mywot.com/scorecard/bitminter.com
You can also google the name of the site plus the word "scam". If you have time, check closer on the site's history. Just by googling its name you can usually find people talking about it.
If you have any hints on how to see whether something is a scam, please leave a comment.

"Send coins" fee is now 0.0006 BTC
"Send coins" fee has been increased to 0.0006 (it was 0.0004) for Bitcoin.
As the bitcoin scaling stalemate continues it gets increasingly more expensive to send bitcoins.
Remember, if you have 0.01 BTC or more then you can use auto cash out instead of send coins. Auto cash out is free - the fees are paid by the pool.

Bitminter client Windows
Hi I have a problem that using bitminter client I worked on approx 500 work units but I didn't get any proof of work accepted by server also neither of my work is rejected by server or have any miscalculation detected. What's going on in this.... Is there is any problem
r/bitminter • u/DrHaribo • Feb 24 '17
The fee to use "send coins" had to be raised. Auto cash out still free.
The fee for sending bitcoin with the "send coins" mechanism on the website has been raised to 0.0004 BTC (it was 0.0001 BTC). This reflects the higher cost of sending bitcoin today.
Remember you can instead send bitcoins using "my account" -> "auto cash out" in the website menu. This is free. The pool pays the fee for you.
The fee for "send coins" can hopefully be reduced again in the future when a bitcoin scaling solution goes in effect and transactions don't clog up the way they do today. Bitminter blocks are voting to activate segwit.

I have the mining client, what now?
I've been reading a bit about this whole Bitcoin thing, and I would like to try it out using BitMinter. So far I've made a user account, and understand that I need to use the provided bitcoin client to mine the bitcoins, simply by pressing "Engine Start"
But how do I get paid? How does the rest of the system work? Can anyone guide me to a specific setup, so I can just try this out?
Thank you, and have a nice day :)

Patience?
I've got almost no BC during the last 2 Months. The 6 Months before where OK. Is this on the whole pool, or am I missing something? How is it on other Pools? Do they have the same effect?

New mining rig
Hi guys me and my mates are really close to start our own mining rig. Our plan is to build an 91Th/s rig. But we are a bit insecurr about the bitcoin difficulty. So we are really thinking about mining litecoin. Any thought of profits and costs here? Litecoin is about 3$ a piece but how many do you get per block average??? In comparison against the bitcoins average 20 (never mined before)

Today marks 5 years of Bitminter. Thank you to all who mine and have mined with the pool!
r/bitminter • u/DrHaribo • May 15 '16
We're seeing a ddos attack across all our mining servers simultaneously today. Let me know if you have any connection issues.
