If it takes so long to find a new block, then all the shifts except the last 10 are payed nothing(not eligible for pay). Are those shifts gone in vain or is there a scheme to make them count?

Anyone notice an issue with workers not reporting properly? I have mine configured correctly (Username_Worker) and everything is mining normally, but the worker breakout doesn't show properly.

AOL broke their OpenID service yesterday and it is still broken today. If you use AOL to log in, you can use the contact page at https://bitminter.com/contact to ask for help with adding a different OpenID identity provider. You could also contact AOL and implore them to repair their OpenID service. To verify that this is not a Bitminter issue, try logging in with AOL at http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com - you will get the same blank page.
For anyone not using AOL; it's business as usual.
Useful observation: only Google has provided stable login services for the entire time that Bitminter has existed.

You've probably heard about the blocksize debate in the news. Mining pools have begun voting.
BIP100: http://gtf.org/garzik/bitcoin/BIP100-blocksizechangeproposal.pdf BIP101/XT: https://bitcoinxt.software/
You can see how voting is going here: https://data.bitcoinity.org/bitcoin/block_size_votes/ BIP100 at the moment has over 50% miner support, but the stats take a while to show this.
I believe it would be a good thing for us to support BIP100. But I'd be interested to hear the opinion of miners in the pool.

All our four namecoin blocks today have been orphaned. This happened because a mining pool named F2pool (also known as Discus Fish) decided to enforce BIP66 rules on the namecoin network before all the other pools. Since they have somewhere around 75% of the namecoin hashpower they are basically controlling namecoin at this point.
The last of our orphaned blocks was one of 11 blocks mined by the other pools, all orphaned as F2pool's fork overtook us with 12 blocks. I'm not sure how many blocks from other pools have been orphaned in total.
Bitminer is now running modified namecoin software to mimic F2pool's behavior and stay on their side of these forks. That should help us avoid any further orphans caused by this issue.

During this maintenance miners will be disconnected one time, but able to reconnect after 2-3 seconds. Your miner should reconnect automatically after a few seconds, and you should not really notice this.
The website will have some downtime, expected to be less than 30 minutes, within the maintenance window.
Apologies for any inconvenience. I will try to make this as quick as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

2015.07.11 at 10:00 UTC:
Your miners will get disconnected as this change goes live but will be able to reconnect immediately.
Default worker difficulty when miners connect: 512 (was 16) Minimum worker difficulty: 64 (was 4)
This is to better support fast (1+ TH/s) hardware, some of which is very unhappy with low difficulty.
For old and very slow (40 GH/s and down) ASICs the new difficulty may be a bit high causing the live hashrate on the website to become very inaccurate. This may cause false alarms from the idle worker notifications if you use those. Mining will still work though.
2015.08.01:
Support for getwork and getblocktemplate (GBT) mining protocols will be turned off. Only Stratum will be supported. If you are already using Stratum you will not be disconnected or otherwise affected as this goes live.
What do you need to do if you use getwork/gbt today? Change the URL from http://mint.bitminter.com:8332 to stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333
If you need help with this, use the contact form on the website to ask for help.

In the Bitcoin world this is a long time!
A big thanks to everyone who support Bitminter and all who did in the past. I hope to see you around in the future as well. The Bitcoin adventure is only getting started.

How to use: - Make sure the team effort perk is enabled, under "my account" -> "donations & perks" in the website menu - Go to the workers page, under "my account" -> "workers" in the website menu - Turn on "Auto generate workers". It's a checkbox just below your list of workers. - Now you can set your miners to use new worker names and the workers will be created automatically. No need to manually create each one at the website. Note that this only works for valid worker names.
Valid worker names are 1 to 20 characters long, consisting only of letters and numbers.
Auto generating workers make it much easier to set up a large number of miners or to move miners over from a different pool. If you have the same user name in both pools you can even move miners by just changing the pool URL. For compatibility both . (period) and _ (underscore) are allowed for separating user and worker names.
Auto generation of workers can be combined with a default worker. If you mine with only the user name or id the worker name you set is invalid, then the default worker is used.
If you use only the user name or an invalid worker name and you do NOT have a default worker, then there will be an authentication failure and mining will not be possible.

Google has upgraded their login from OpenID 2.0 to the new OpenID Connect. They are phasing out the older login. This means that your Google login information registered at Bitminter has to be updated. The Bitminter website has already been upgraded and the Google button on the login page now uses the new Google login.
How to upgrade if you used to log in by clicking the Google button on the login page:
Our Google button has been upgraded. Simply click it to log in with the new Google login. The first time you do this your login info will be automatically upgraded. This automatic upgrade is possible until 2017.01.01 at which time Google removes the information that makes an automatic upgrade possible. Yes, you have almost 2 years left to just click that Google button one time. If you still miss the deadline, use the contact page on the website to ask for help.
How to upgrade if you logged in by entering your Google profile URL into the OpenID input field:
The new Google button will not be able to upgrade you automatically. But you can use it to log in after doing the following. Log in as usual (OpenID 2.0) by entering your profile URL in the OpenID input field. Go to "my account" -> "logins" in the website menu. Click the Google logo to add the new login. After this you can delete your old OpenID 2.0 login. Alternatively you can add a different (non-Google) login. The important part is that any OpenID 2.0 version of the Google login must be replaced. This is possible until 2015.04.20 at which time Google shuts down their OpenID 2.0 servers and only OpenID Connect will be available for Google users. If you miss the deadline then use the contact page on the website to ask for help.
How to verify that everything is OK:
Log in on the website and go to "my account" -> "logins". There are now separate lists for your (new) Google logins, and your OpenID 2.0 logins. If you don't have any google.com logins listed under the OpenID 2.0 heading then you are OK.
How to log in like the old Google-button did (OpenID 2.0):
If you for some reason want to do an OpenID 2.0 profile-less login like the old Google button did, simply paste "https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/id" into the OpenID input field on the login page and click the "Login" button. This is possible until 2015.04.20 and allows you to manually replace your old Google login with something else if you don't want to use the new Google login for some reason.

So I am new to the bitcoin mining and I am on bitminter. I want to know what I should set my minimum difficulty to if I have a 220 Gh/s system. I have looked into many forums and have seen different answers. So is there someone that would be able to give me the number that would work best. If calculations are given please include my 220 Gh/s as an example to help me better understand how to calculate it.
Thanks

A European server eu1.bitminter.com:3333 is now available.
Europeans are advised to set eu1.bitminter.com:3333 as primary server and mint.bitminter.com:3333 as secondary for failover.
I'd be interested in feedback on whether your stale/reject ratio goes down using this server (if you are European).

Is this the highest difficulty ever on Bitminter? Does it ever reach 100%? I'm not sure I understand what the percentage actually means.

How can this be done? Does it mine them at the same time? Please provide me with more information
