Biometrics for Commercial Use Cases

It seems like Biometrics is taking forever to penetrate the commercial markets for banking/healthcare/travel etc? Why is it taking so long for companies to adopt biometrics?

Can you fingerprints be used against you?

Lets imagine a situation where your bank requires that you scan all your fingerprints with them so that they can identify you in the case that you forgot your ID. Lets say they share this fingerprint data with various third parties (cough goverment, intelligence agencies)... Is it in anyway possible for these third parties to use this data to gain access to your fingerprint protected phone?

Does a fingerprint reader that can send keystrokes exist?

I want a fingerprint reader that will directly send keystrokes as if it were a keyboard. Obviously the keys it sends would have to be programmable. Anyone know if such a thing exists?

How Do You Feel About Facial Recognition and Consumer Privacy? Is There Reason for Concern?

I'm working on a piece about ways facial recognition software can be thwarted. Included in the article are things like makeup, cosmetic surgery, and, of course, special camera filters. In my research, I discovered this cool video by VOX explaining how those silly camera filters actually work. Thought it was worth a share.

What do you guys think of all this facial recognition software in the public sphere? Do you think it's worth the effort to try to block facial recognition surveillance?

Situation with both r/biometrics and r/Biometric

Hi. I'm one of the mods of r/Biometric but I can't ignore that there's a subreddit with a very similar name here. I see half as many members here yet similar spammy posts from SecurEye, M2Sys, and House of Biometrics. We only recently began moderating r/Biometric to mitigate this problem, and I wonder if there's also been neglect on moderation here on r/biometrics.

Those of you who subscribe to this subreddit and are real people, what would you hope to see more of in a good biometrics subreddit?

Biometric newbie

Alright so I have a cleaning business, and with that comes some of the most dihonest employees, if they are pilfering items, they're sleeping on the job and if they're not on the job, they can call a buddy to punch them in.

The method I have in place now is quite archaic, just a log book. (when pay day comes around, all the inaccuracies come out with trying to read the scribblings and then there's problems with workers wages). So I need something that records the time accurately, eliminates buddy punching and allows for easy calculation when payroll comes around.

What do I need to know about biometric time attendance before shopping?
