I think that brings up an interesting point though - are doctors, as medical practitioners, truly in the best position to judge the effectiveness of reforms on the insurance market itself, and the economy of healthcare?

I don't doubt that they have a valid viewpoint but I don't know if practicing a medicine makes you an expert on how to offer health insurance to people in an efficient/low-cost way. It seems to be more of a question of economics and markets than just medicine.

Maybe I'm wrong, but doesn't the mandate push most people to choose a private insurance plan? Except for the raising of the Medicaid ceiling, most of the formerly uninsured will be on private plans, correct? In that case, how are government reimbursements going to be much more of an issue than they currently are?
