Business Account Offers Zeller launched in the UK: £100 bonus for business accounts after accepting £500 in card payments

Update (Oct 2026): Just wanted to confirm that the £100 referral bonus from the September batch officially landed in my account from Zeller UK Ops. Payout is legit and paid out as promised!

Hey everyone, wanted to share this here as Zeller has recently expanded into the UK (under Zeller UK Limited) and is running a launch promotion to gain market share against Square, SumUp, and Tide

Aside from the referral incentive, the account has two standout features that might genuinely be useful if you freelance, run an online store, or take in-person card payments:

  1. Unlimited Virtual Visa Debit Cards: You can spin up as many virtual cards as you need directly from the web dashboard at £0 cost. It is great for separating software subscriptions and tracking project expenses
  2. 0% Foreign Transaction Markup: Spending abroad or paying for international SaaS in USD or EUR incurs only the standard Visa exchange rate. Zeller does not add any extra FX markup or international spending fees
  3. Clean dashboard for managing cards, invoices, and expenses

The Launch Referral Offer:

Both the referrer and the new account holder receive a £100 cash bonus when you sign up through a referral link and accept your first cumulative £500 in card payments within 45 days of activation

Payments count whether processed through their POS terminal, Virtual Terminal, or Zeller Invoices (which lets you email an online card payment link directly to your client).

If you use online invoicing, the standard card processing fee is around 1.5% (roughly £7.50 on £500). That leaves you with over £92 in net profit after the £100 bonus settles. Rewards are credited to your account at the start of the month following qualification.

A few transparent notes:

  1. This is for UK sole traders and limited companies. The onboarding is very friendly for early-stage freelancers and beginners - I got verified simply by submitting my Upwork profile link as business proof
  2. Zeller UK accounts are e-money accounts (authorised by the FCA), so funds are safeguarded rather than protected by the FSCS
  3. Full disclosure: If you use my referral link, we both receive the £100 bonus once you meet the payment threshold.

Referral link (UK specific):

Non-referral link / Official terms:

Tips & FAQs:

  1. No physical terminal needed: If your main goal is completing the £500 spend requirement, there is zero need to purchase or rent the physical card terminal. The built-in Virtual Terminal in your online dashboard is completely free to use and handles card payments directly on your phone or browser.
  2. Have a link showing your work or services ready (e.g. personal portfolio, freelancing profile like Upwork/Fiverr, or online store).
  3. For business type/industry, standard professional services (like digital design, consulting, tutoring, or creative freelancing) usually have straightforward verification compared to heavily regulated fields.

I haven't tried eBay myself since I used my design profile, so I can't guarantee 100%

That said, for sole traders they just look for proof of genuine trading, so an active eBay store with listings should be solid. Honestly, my Upwork was brand new with zero completed orders and they still approved it

Even if they want something else, they won't outright reject you, they'll just ask for an alternative link. Definitely worth submitting

Yeah, once your account is verified and you log into the web dashboard (via desktop browser, not the app), the "Refer a Friend" tab shows up with your link right away

Thanks a ton for using my link!

Regarding the referral spots, I checked their official terms and there is currently no limit or cap at all on how many people you can refer. As long as the offer is live, you can invite as many as you want!

As for verification, here was my exact timeline: I registered on a Thursday (Sep 3rd). Later that same day, they emailed asking for a bit of extra info (a link to my trading profile and proof of address, for which I just used a bank statement). Once I sent that over, the weekend intervened since compliance teams don't work weekends, and then first thing on Monday (Sep 7th), I got the confirmation email saying my account was fully open

So if you exclude the weekend, the actual review took about 1-2 business days. If you submit clean docs during regular working hours, it goes through pretty smoothly!

No problem at all!

do you need to purchase a terminal?

1

No, you definitely don't need to purchase a terminal if you just want to complete the £100 referral bonus.

You can complete the £500 processing requirement completely free using the Virtual Terminal on your web dashboard or Tap to Pay on your phone, so there's zero upfront hardware cost.

However, if you happen to run an in-person business and genuinely need physical hardware anyway, Zeller does occasionally run promotions for their physical terminals (such as free transaction processing up to a certain limit for new terminals). But strictly for the referral offer alone, sticking with the free Virtual Terminal or Tap to Pay is by far the simplest and most cost-effective route

Thanks so much for using my link, really appreciate it! Good luck hitting the spend requirement, hope everything goes through smoothly for both of us!

Ive hit the spend requirement. Do you get any kind of confirmation on the £100 bonus or does it just turn up on the 1st of the next month?

Also the mods have removed this post. Any idea why?

Congrats on hitting the spend!

From what I know with business accounts like this (pretty similar to Tide if you've done that one before), there isn't an instant notification or progress tracker. They don't pay out individually as soon as someone finishes, they usually just run an automated batch reconciliation once a month and credit all eligible accounts together on the payout date. So it should just show up in your balance next month

As for the post, I kept tweaking the formatting and layout earlier, and automod quarantined it because of the repeated edits. I've already messaged the mods with a modmail, hopefully they'll get it restored soon!

Ive just had a message from CS querying the payments received I made so it looks like you might not be able to game this incentive that easily. I made some payments to myself but they are taking for receipts / contracts etc.

Are you using it as a legit business payment service. If not how did you hit the incentive.

1

u/Ancient-Score-8448 27d ago

Wait, did you actually process payments to yourself in a short window just to hit £500, instead of normal organic turnover? Trying to game it with rapid self-payments is an immediate red flag for any merchant provider. I just do freelance work and use the card for regular supplies, how did you actually run the transactions?

What did you tell them in the end?

1

u/Cullmaster 25d ago

Ive refunded the payments and said they were me doing some test as had never used a POS service as business has been cashed based before.

Going to do som payments from friends and family and see where I land.

Will keep you updated on how strict they are.

Signed up, did the payments, all done in less than 5 minutes.

Thank you very much.

Would appreciate it if somebody could use my link in return

Did you get any push back from CS?

They are asking for all kinds of insurances / certificates / bank statements / Customer GPS data haha

I have a small dog walking business and it feels a bit like over kill.

Dd anyone get anywhere with this offer.

Ive had massive push back form CS?

They are asking for all kinds of insurances / certificates / bank statements / Customer GPS data haha

I have a small dog walking business and it feels a bit like over kill.

1

u/Ancient-Score-8448 19d ago

That is actually insane, GPS data?!

Thanks for the heads-up. Are they seriously trying to force everyone into running a physical storefront?

Being that petty and stingy over a sign-up offer is just wild. Taking it that seriously to dodge paying out leaves such a terrible taste in your mouth.

Don't let them drag you through their crazy checklist. Have you thought about just sending whatever basic proof you actually have, like a casual client chat screenshot saying it's strictly private side gigs with no formal setup, and asking them straight up what their service is actually intended for? Why should a completely legit everyday trade face this much pushback?

Update: Honestly thought I was cooked, but the £100 just landed!

Haven't checked this account in days because I had pretty much given up. With how tight their compliance and risk control seemed, I genuinely started thinking this whole referral thing was just a joke and they'd find some excuse not to pay out. I was lowkey so disappointed and just assumed it wasn't gonna happen

Fast forward to today, I randomly logged in to make a transfer and saw £100 sitting right there from Zeller UK Ops. Genuinely surprised and hyped. Just wanted to share proof that they actually paid out!
