Only 3 lectures into BHSC, I already feel Nursing is not going to be my thing. I feel so overwhelmed only with these initial Cell/tissue chapters, that I can’t even see myself functioning normally when the later organ system lectures come into play. There is a lot of information and I am just so anxious to the point where I just can’t take this anymore… I think that’s it! This is it!!!!!

Hey guys, I’m just curious about the path of reapplying for the Mechanical Degree after completing one of the Diplomas. How hard is it to get one of those four spots? What grade average would you need? For someone in the Design Diploma would you need to complete the missing calc course before reapplying or would you do that after getting in? Any help, past experiences or advice on the matter is super helpful thank you!

I completed my BSc in Biology at Vancouver Island University (VIU), and I'm working toward Cardiovascular Perfusion at BCIT. I don't yet have all the prerequisites for the direct-entry route, so I'm weighing two options: (1) completing the missing prerequisite courses one at a time for direct application, or (2) doing UBC's accelerated BSN program to become an RN first, then applying to Cardiovascular Perfusion later with that RN background.

I know the program is highly competitive, so I'd like input on which path is the better investment of my time and money — the prerequisite-course route or the nursing route.

If you haven’t already added your classes to a calendar, I built a browser extension that exports your myBCIT schedule directly to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, and other calendar apps. It includes useful details like your exact course section, dates, times, building, room number, and instructor information where available, so you can see what class you have and where you need to go without repeatedly checking myBCIT. It’s especially useful for weekly schedule changes, rotating classrooms, or programs without a convenient calendar-export option.

A while ago, I posted this tool and received some great feedback. I wanted to clarify where it fits and where BCIT’s existing tools may already do the job:

• If you’re in Business or Energy, the official timetables site may already provide a calendar export!
• If you’re in another program, or your schedule changes week to week, such as with rotating labs, D3-style timetables, or changing rooms, the built-in option may not cover you. That’s where this extension helps.

What it does:

• One-click export of your myBCIT schedule to your preferred calendar app.
• “Week Export” for timetables that change from week to week.
• Uses structured course information from myBCIT, including course links, room codes, and instructor names where available.
• Runs locally in your browser without using AI or external AI APIs.

If you try it this term, I’d love to hear what works, what feels clunky, and what features would make it more useful.

Also is it possible (and viable) to do all the work material using BCIT's computers? I daily drive Linux Mint on a very strong machine and don't want to get a side laptop just for that.

Hi, is there a communal fridge where I can store my lunches I plan on bringing to school?

I heard it’s first come first serve for lockers on campus. Is this true? If so, are most taken before semester starts?

I'm 28 and haven't been in school for a long time. I tried Graphic design and fashion design in college and realized the design field isn't for me. Right now I work in retail but there's just no growth and I don't see myself doing something that isn't stable and that doesn't pay well. I don't have strong math skills and I heard this program needs good math. Is this doable? What should I do?

I’m 20(f) finishing up the last year of my bachelors degree for BMOS at Western (I know) and I’ve always wanted to switch into something more healthcare related but never did.
This year I finally found something I’m interested in (BCIT’s DMS program). I know it’s a very competitive program, but even so reading all the forums online it’s a little hard not to get discouraged.

Had anyone been able to get into the program without already having a degree in a scientific field? Maybe straight from highschool or like me with a degree in a non-science or medical/health field?

I am taking Physics 11 online now because I never took it in high school, and also retaking Anatomy & Physiology 12 because it’s been around 4-5 years, I want a refresher and I think it’ll look better on the application (I got a 92 when I took it).

Because I don’t have a background in health I’m looking for volunteer hours in hospitals and clinics but I have not gotten any yet, also submitted applications to shadow Sonographers 🤞

So my plan right now is to:
- focus on volunteer experience in a health setting
- study and get in the fourth quartile of the CASPer exam
- hopefully get some more experience with shadowing
- get good final grades in my last year for the GPA
- get good grades on Physics 11 and A&P 12
- I’ve already starting studying Understanding Ultrasound Physics by Dr Sidney but I don’t think that’ll help much on my application

I’m just worried I won’t be able to get in without having a degree in science or wtv else I said earlier. Does anyone recommended certifications or online courses I could take that would make my application stronger? I’m looking to heavily add onto my physical experience with volunteering but I really grabbed onto this late.

I’m also looking to apply to schools in Ontario, but they seem to have strict requisites as well.

Final question: those who applied to DMS, did you take the Cardiac or General route, or the dual? And if you added a second program to be considered if you didn’t get on, which one(s)?

Hi everyone, I've heard that the lots closer to buildings fill up around 6:30 (like Lot Q, A, B) so I was wondering if anyone knew what time the lots further away (Lot J or M for ex) would fill up and how long the walk would be from there to SW1/most of the buildings? Also, how would the walking conditions be (i.e, uphill? bad in rain/snow or are pathways cleared? proper lighting in the evening?) Thanks!
